They mention that arrival is as from 17h until 20h. You would assume that you can enter your villa as from 17h but read further for their version of this arrival procedure鈥?br />
We arrived just before 17h and received our keys from a nice lady, a contract with phone number in case of questions and emergency number (to call outside office hours).
Upon arrival in the villa it was clear it had not been cleaned, and was extremely filthy.
We called the number of the agency but no reply, called the emergency number also with no reply.
We drove back tot he agency (30 min. total drive!) and told them the villa was very dirty, we did not think they were going to get it clean the same day such was the state it was in鈥?the villa in general was upon first view also dissapointing so we suggested we change villa.
鈥楴ot possible鈥? was their reaction, 鈥榳e have an agreement with the owners which does not allow changing鈥?and we are only the go-between. We think they could have negotiated better contracts than that鈥hat would have avoided this review.
Their reply to the non-cleaning was also : 鈥榓rrival is BETWEEN 17h and 20h鈥? so it鈥檚 鈥榩erfectly possible鈥?that if you arrive at 17h, your villa is not cleaned yet. This is an unheard of arrival procedure ! We have rented a lot of houses in Spain, never heard anything like this.
We returned tot the villa, the cleaners had arrived and someone from Abahana gave them the keys (did not even enter to check the villa as far as we saw !) The cleaning team gave more info on the matter : the villa was just not on the list for cleaning that day, the fact that they had not cleaned it had NOTHING to do with Abahana鈥檚 strange arrival procedure ! (Abahana's receptionists did not realize we understood Spanish and therefore understood the cleaners, otherwise we would probably never have known the truth about the matter)
The house itself had more than one issue : the pictures on the site were old, taken when the house was in far better condition. The outside area is disappointing and a main fact about the location has been conveniently left out : the quite busy motorway passes just before the house in the valley with considerable noise.
Without going in too much detail , this house is far too basic to be rented out. A few examples : there are 2 small terrace tables, not convenient for eating with 4 people outside, the pool area is small (smaller than seems on the pictures), the kitchen is much older than on the pictures and is stocked with absolutely nothing ( !) not even a dishcloth. Most importantly, no airco in the bedrooms (we knew) but also (unthinkable in Spain) NO FANS ! Not even the cheapest 30鈧?models you can get anywhere !
The name of the villa we rented was Villa Micolina in Senaji.
Even though it was a cheap last minute, it was too much to pay for this basic house and poor service鈥?br />
This was a disappointing week for us and we feel we have learned a lesson : we will try to rent directly from owners as we have done sometimes before. Owners who get to meet their renters in person often give much better service !!!
What a holiday and what a villa. Excellent service provided from the office staff, nothing was too much trouble. We were celebrating an '80th' birthday and the staff definitely made it special for us all. The villa we stayed in was amazing and we booked the transfers through them too and everything was excellent.

Sadly when we arrived the pool was empty and undergoing some work.
Having informed Abahana that the only reason we had booked the villa was because of the pool/gardens. there was another pool on site which was not upto the standard of the main pool area. at no time were we informed of this even when picking up the keys. First we were told all had been informed..which we had not…then we were told sorry but nothing abahana villas could do…..NOT GOOD ENOUGH SERVICE.
We had upfront asked for permission to get earlier access to the Villa, because we were travelling with a 4 months old Baby.
The Manager had promised to give us the keys upon arrival. We accepted that the cleaning of the Villa might still be ongoing due to our early arrival.
When we finally came to the office in Calpe for fetching the keys, they first could not "remember" the agrreement. When we insisted, they told us it was well enough agreed , but it was anyhow not possible to get the keys before 16:00.
Only when I got clear, that this was utterly unacceptable and the baby needed to rest (it was 35 degrees outside) after the long trip, we were allowed to talk with the manager. This finally solved the problem.
In this price category we do expect that an agrement is kept without such complications!
The villa itself was fine and the rest of the holiday without further complications.
