The worst, rudest company I鈥檝e ever delt with. Requested a refund in may, still waiting! Rude staff won鈥檛 give me an answer messing me about on the phone. Spoke to the rudest lady ever that told me I 鈥榤ight get my refund in a few weeks, might be a few months鈥?and then hung up on me!!! Avoid at all costs absolutely awful!

BELOW ZERO STARS

I am utterly shocked at the multiple attempts it has taken to get my own money back for a flight I DID not take due to it being cancelled because of COVID-19. All other airlines have been extremely good at refunds, handling it with such care that ensures you know you will go back to the airline in the future. Unfortunately, this is a company that has lost all equity for its name and loyalty from anyone it ever have. The lies, excuses, circles is now beyond me and I assure to never use this airline again.

My flight was in May – have requested for a refund since May – it is now September…5 months!

I bought a ticket from Miami to Venice with a stopover in Madrid for next September, due to the covid we cannot travel. I have tried to communicate with them but it has been impossible, there is no way. Air Europa changed my arrival date and the city where I was going to travel without consulting me. It really is a company that is not serious and also ethics is on the floor. Bad Company

The worst customer service I have ever seen, It is been more than 4 months from the first claim for a refund. When you try to contact (almost 2 hours waiting) they say that they can not resolve your problem and you have to send an email to them. They also hung up on me twice.

Possibly the worst company around!

Customer service is NON existing for this company: mails are not answered (am waiting almost 4 months for an answer), telephones are not picked up and when they do get picked up they line ALWAYS gets cut as soon as they hear you have a complaint.

Air Europa is a disgrace and does not care about there customers AT ALL.

Would give Air Europa zero stars if possible here. I fly a lot on business and some holidays and they are the worst airline I have experienced to date. Appalling customer services – phone rings and rings. Due a refund after a cancellation from them back in May on a booking made in January 2020 which also did not go so smoothly. Had to go through hoops to get them to facilitate a refund. Assured me all in progress but nothing to date. Don鈥檛 fly. They really are that bad!!

Still waiting for cancellation refund
An atrocious company. on a trip from London to Havana I paid for extra baggage, which showed up on my ticket, but on check-in was told that it had not been paid for. After argument was allowed to board, but lied to by check-in staff and cabin crew about there being a desk in transit at Madrid where I could sort it out for return trip. Spent approx. 90 minutes on phone trying to get someone to sort it out, to no avail. Due to coronavirus, they cancelled return flight 3 days before its date, but didnt make any effort to contact me to inform me. I had been monitoring their website which is labyrinthine, and was totally without information. I only found out about cancellation when my son rang me from England, and he managed to book us on a flight with another airline at a cost of 拢3000. I have tried all ways of getting a refund, quoting EU regulations etc. After 4 months I have heard nothing since their original offer of vouchers. I would not use vouchers to fly with this shower of crooks under any circumstances.

Very bad management of the Covid crisis… End of March, flights Bogota to Paris via Madrid cancelled few days before without any alternative proposal or help in Bogota. Nobody at the airport, impossible to reach them by phone, email, messenger… Bogota airport closed 4 days after and we had to fly to Cancun, Mexico and then buy another flight to Poland to reach Europe before complete lockdown everywhere…. everything done by oir own without any help from Air Europe. We ask the refund on March 27th and till now we receive nothing. They keep our money illagaly. More than 4 months without refund, explanation, help.

Very bad handling of Corona Virus caused problems!
My mexican family couldnt travel to Europe. For the flight from Madrid to Zurich no voucher, no name changes and only a date chance for the next 11 months where possible. So we lost a lot of money. If you call them you wait over 1 hour at the phone!

My flight was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Three months later I am still waiting to receive my money back. The same day I had a flight with RyanAir and they refunded me 1 month ago. That shows you how bad Air Europa is.

Awful airline that has given me a headache for the past couple of months. I had a flight from Bolivia to Spain back in April and the flight was cancelled because of COVID19. To start with, I didn't even get an email from the airline to say my flight had been cancelled. Secondly, I called the airline and told them I wanted a refund. At first they only offered me a voucher but I said that I only wanted a refund. They told me to fill out a complaint form and they would be in touch with my shortly. They never got in touch me (70 days later) and I had to continue calling them to get some kind of update on my case. The aireuropa offices in Bolivia stopped picking up the phone and answering emails so I had to make many long distance phone calls to the main offices in Spain. They eventually told me that my refund had been authorized but I needed to do it through the offices here in Bolivia because that's where I bought my ticket. A bit difficult when they weren't even picking up the phone. When aireuropa in Bolivia finally answered my emails, they said I wasn't eligible for a refund because my ticket was non refundable. When I had spoken to a representative of aireuropa on their Facebook page, he/she told me that refunds aren't determined by the type of ticket the passenger has. So the main offices in Spain tell me the type of ticket isn't important, in Bolivia they say it is, in Spain they say my refund has been authorized, in Bolivia they say I'm not eligible for a refund. What a nightmare!!! I've been waiting since 7th April and still no signs of a refund. They obviously don't care about passengers rights or the law because I know I am entitled to a refund. This is the worst airline. Don't recommend it at all.

I have never used the "gave this one star because there was no option to give zero" phrase … but I'm using it with these thieves.

We booked a one way flight from Madrid to Lisbon. The flight later showed up as cancelled on a third party system but my booking was still showing as current. Phoned them up and they denied the flight was cancelled, saying if it was, I needed to wait until it showed in my booking as cancelled.

Eventually I got an email form them saying my flight was indeed cancelled. I telephoned them to initiate a refund yet, despite quoting EU law and their own T&Cs at them, they refused to give a refund, saying only a voucher is possible.

I tried a chargeback through Amex and whilst initially they refunded me for my outlay, this has since been reversed. Seems they too have fallen for the lies of the airline and have thereby supported them in their breaking of the EU regulations and denying their own Conditions.

I have now tried the complaint route for a refund via Air Europa but I'm not hopeful. Waiting for a call back from Amex but if all else fails, it'll be a Section 75 claim via the card.

A quick glance at Air Europa's social media accounts tells you all you need to know about this rogue airline. They don't pay refunds for the flights they cancel. 'They can only offer a voucher'.

The thing is under EU law if your flight is cancelled for any reason you are due a full, CASH refund. But Air Europa doesn't care about the law, it doesn't care about it's planes (which are filthy and old) and it most certainly doesn't care about it's customers.

I tried several times to get a refund but was greeted with some very hostile phone agents who lied though their teeth to try and convince me I wasn't due a refund.

I was fortunate in I that was able to initiate a chargeback on my credit card to get the money back that was fraudulently taken. If you can I recommend you do the same as you won't get anywhere with this companies crooked customer service agents.

Avoid at all costs. The flights may look cheaper on comparison websites but when you factor in the hidden costs are no better than more reputable airlines.

They deny reimbursing money for a cancelled flight and hence violating EU passenger rights.

No way to cancel! The Covid-19 virus caused me to change my flight plans. I was no longer going to be in Spain to make the Air Europa flight but there was absolutely no way to inform them or to cancel, or ask for a refund. Unbelievable.

I won't recommend this airline for long haul flights. The crew doesn't care much about the passenger experience, the quality of the only meal they serve for a +10 hours flight is poor and you have to buy the headphones so please take a pair. This airline could be ok for short flights, but you will have to buy snacks if you wish to eat anything, and they only take cards or if you're lucky they might have some change on the local currency if they accept it at all! Flew with them and back to South America on 26 Jan 2020. Never again!

Checking into a long haul flight only to discover a surplus charge of 拢120 per bag was not how we wanted to start our trip to Colombia. The destination dropdown menu on the website clearly showed a baggage allowance of 1 x 23kg bag per person, and we were not the only people to be caught out. The lady checking us in admitted she had been charged for the same reason when she flew with the airline over Christmas – if not even Aireuropa staff understand the baggage policy, then perhaps the company needs to drastically rethink the way it communicates with customers. A complete scam and we will not be flying with Aireuropa again.

Arrived at my destination more than 24 hours later than planned, yet they refused to pay compensation which is required by EU law. Had to go to court to receive the money. Definitely would not recommend this airline under any circumstances. I find it absolutely disgusting that they make people go through the legal process, although they know that they have to pay. This is only to try discouraging people to claim their money because they do not have the time or resources to do so. You should be ashamed of your actions and customer service.

Not a good experience.
Check-in – webpage worked randomly. Same goes for the app. If you phone customer service, be prepared to wait 30mins at least and not having your problem solved. You need to pay for your seats unless you want a random seat assigned. They tried to charge me 拢140 for 4 seats (per flight, 2 adults and 2 kids) so I went with the random lottery. In a Dreamliner seat configuration (3x3x3) I did get the seats assigned in the middle row (all family together, don't worry).
Boarding system – messy and no priority to families. Be prepared to board with the entire plane in random and messy fashion.
Flight staff – unfriendly and helpless. It seems they didn't want to work in there. I got the feeling nobody was willing to do a tiny bit for the customer. Specially when you spend 拢800 per ticket. The 10hours flight barely moved due to turbulence; however, it seems it was decided to switch the seat belts sign for 9 hours so that nobody walks, goes to the toilet or asks for anything to the helpless staff.
Food& drink – poor and scare. Dinner was poor and rushed. Coming back there was no breakfast after 10h flight. They are moving towards charging for extra drinks and stuff so you don't get even water if you don't chase them. (be prepared to be told off because you will be getting dehydrated …if you call them – never show up…if you walk to the back of the plane with the seat-belt sign on they will tell you off that's unsafe!). Also, being so unwilling to help and unfriendly I don't believe the airline will be able to sell much – tip for the management.
Plane& onboard entertainment. Not bad. The plane was clean not that smelly and look like a new one. However, they charge you for earphones so bring your own or pay them.
Connecting flight& luggage – If you have short connections, be prepared because they obviously misplaced 2 of my bags and who knows when I will get them back.

From start to finish a bad experience. Poor staff behaviour tiered old planes 11.5 hour flight with only one drinks service provided. Unless you have no other choice avoid at all cost this Spanish airline. Never thought I would think any airline could be worse than Ryan Air but Air Europa wins.

I鈥檝e just boarded at Madrid on the long haul flight to Havana. This is the worst plane I鈥檝e ever been on. As I talk person, I accept legroom can be limited, but this is beyond a joke. Ryanair offer more leg room for short flights! Not only that, the seat is now proportioned that I have the 鈥榟ead鈥?rest digging into my back which is aching already. This is before you add the fact it has no in flight entertainment and a broken air con. If you鈥檙e tall, and even if you鈥檙e not, try very hard not to fly with Air Europa, or definitely try and get extra legroom seats!

we went to Israel via spain on Air Europa. When I went to check in, they did not let me take my lithium battery, Elena the manager said she would hold it for me till I come back and she kept her word.
Airline food from New York to spain was excellent. Plane from Spain to Israel was smooth. Plane from Israel to Spain was smooth. Plane from Madrid to new york was smooth, very reliable and responsible airline. Dont know why people complaining so much. Cabin crew was very nice. Will fly with them again.
