Boss' flight AB6577 on 12/09/17 from TXL to FRA got cancelled last minute. He had to book a much mire expensive Lufthansa flight to keep a business meeting. Started refund claim with AirBerlin, was given a ref number but never heard back from them despite numerous chases. Cannot find any telephone number to get through to anyone or am in a queue for ages. Does anyone have a number I can reach anyone from AirBerlin to discuss this? Thanks

Had to pay 250 (!) euros extra for our luggage. Had to wait in line for over an hour. Worst airline ever. Better take the train or walk next time.

Horrible customer service. They charged the phone call per minute and never replied.

They cancelled our flight (CPH-BER) 5 hours before the flight with no explanation and we couldn't contact the phone number provided.

This the most unprofessional flight company!
This whole experience has just felt like one big scam!

The 26th of July we arrive at Tegel Airport, Berlin, more than 2 hours before take off as requested. Our tickets are for the 9:20 flight to Copenhagen. In check-in we are told that, we have been put on standby, but they will check in our suitcases and we should proceed as normal.
At boarding we are then informed that there is not room for us on the plane, but we should now get our suitcases and be re-booked for a new flight. We were then told that 1) we should have come earlier 2) this happens when you book from other travelwebsites. We where at checkin as expected and purchased our tickets directly from Airberlin鈥檚 website, so the accusations are not valid. We where also informed, when asking, that it might not be possible to catch the next flight as the planes were very booked that day.
We are then escorted to the arrival hall by the man from the boarding desk. He tells us that it might not be possible to get seat at the next flight, since the plane is very booked. He then leaves us at the arrival hall and tells us to wait at the luggage conveyer belt until our suitcases arrives after which we should then proceed to AirBerlin customer service, who will re-book our fligh. After 15 minutes we decide that if we are to get on the next plane, it might be good to split the tasks. 1 of us waits for the suitcases, the other goes to talk with AirBerlin customer service desk. We ask several staff members at the arrival hall, but no one is sure, if the suitcases will arrive there or what to do-
AirBerlin customer service desk rebooks us for the 13:20 flight same day, but cannot give an answer as to where our luggage is, the answer is directly 鈥渘o idea鈥? At the same time 40 minutes has now passed in the arrival hall, and the luggage haven鈥檛 shown up yet.
At the AirBerlin Check-in they can finally inform that the luggage will already be on the next plane. We are then able to reunite outside the arrival hall and check in again. 1 hour has now passed since we were dropped off at the conveyor belt, which we should never have been dropped off at. We fill out the compensation forms.
We go through the security check-in once again. And since we haven鈥檛 been offered any form of food or drink, we now have to buy something to eat and drink. At no point are we offered any compensation for this, even though we are now 4 hours delayed.
We then wait in the designated waiting area. And we are beginning to wonder where the staff is at the boarding desk. It then turns out that this flight is delayed. First from 13:20 to 14:50, then to 14:55, then to 15:25. At no point were there staffmembers to explain the situation. It seemed to be rather understaffed as the gate next to us was completely unstaffed, but the phone kept ringing.

When finally seated in the plane and ready for take off. The captain inform us that the super professional staff did their best, but there had been luggage left on 鈥榰nattended鈥?and therefore this delay.
When arriving in Copenhagen around 17 our luggage arrive completely drenched as if it has been standing out on the landing field from the morning flight took off at 9:20 AM until the next flight took off at 15:25. Needless to say that we at this time in the events are really furious.

We then go to register our complaint at Kastrup Airport. We are informed here that AirBerlin is the number 1 company that people complain about. This does not surprise us. The staff here spends enormous time figuring out wether or not the suitcase is blue or green. Not that it matters, the suitcase is wet, inside and outside. The other luggage is completely drenched. All material inside is just wet. As we are to catch a train the next day this is less than ideal, since we now have to hurry and get all our belongins dryed before the next part of our journey.

Making the complaint about the luggage then takes 1 hour. This because the first staffmember accidentally deletes the whole report, looks at her watch and conclude she actually needed to take her break a while ago and the redirects us to another staffmember, who rewrites the whole report. We include a copy of the report with this complaint.

We chose the more expensive planetrip over a busride to save time. In fact with all the events happening on this journey we would have arrived earlier for a cheaper price without the stress and with dry suitcases. The way the staff conducted itself is beyond criticism. At no point were anyone willing to take responsibility and we kept getting redirected.

We have been promised compensation. But The 21st of August 2017 we were then informed that the compensation was cancelled because of the current insolvency proceedings. It was informed that we would receive a letter to further inform us and including a form to fill out. This has not arrived.

We are never flying with airberlin again!

every single flight I have taken has been between 30 mins and 3 hours delayed. No compensation whatsoever. Half-arsed apology from the captain every time. No attempt to make it good at all. Cabin staff are always indifferent and rude. They seriously need some customer service training. This is the most terrible airline I've ever flown and unfortunately due to the booking portal my company uses, I'm forced to use them. I am rejoicing at the news that they have gone bankrupt. It's been a long time coming….

Flying from Mallorca to Switzerland. I tried to prebook my luggage online 30h before departure, but their site was not working.
For that reason I came almost 5 hours before departure to the airport, but nevertheless had to pay 90 euro for my luggage of just 19kg. The ticket price was 77 euro…

Need to know of someone who tried to board Air Berlin Flight No.AB8067 on the 29th. June 2017. at 18.45 departing from Gothenburg Airport.

The reason is this, that the fight denied transfer passengers to board this flight. The desk staff have told us that Air Berlin AB8067 were not accepting transfer passengers were only accepting berlin passengers.

They did not give us passengers a reason. Only gave us the contact no. of Air Berlin customer service to make other arrangements.
I and many others tried many times to get through to Air Berlin but no
answer. It was quite a challenge to contact or to get through to them.

I need some verification of this situation has I have applied a claim
from my Travel Insurance Co. to cover the cost of flights I had to arrange
at my expense. I have sent my telephone logs of my attempts to my insurance co. but they need this verified.

Please anyone who experience this. let me know.

I lost my luggage 1 week ago when I landed in Florence. I checked everyday the lost and found but it seemed the bag tag was not scanned because the bag was untraceable. After 5 days Airberlin redirects customers to call Baggage Express to track luggage. Baggage Express is only open mon-fri 12-2 or 2-4 and during that time you are disconnected after waiting 3 minutes in line. As of today, I don't have my luggage and I was not able to talk with anybody who could actually assist.
Worst airline ever.

After a trip to Abu Dhabi during the winter hols, we were unfortunately having my daughter hospitalised, and my wife stayed with her another 4 days in Abu Dhabi. However, my son and myself had to take off flying back to Europe with Air Berlin.
When standing at the check-in desk, we were advised that the flight was overbooked, and Air Berlin were offering EUR 250 per person to wait for the next flight. I told them that it was ok to leave my wife and daughter behind as they would not show up and explained the situation. I was informed I couldn't get any money for no-show's, and that they would sell the 2 seats to someone else (price EUR 500 per seat). On top of that I explained that due to the circumstances i had to bring another suitcase (3 instead of 2), and the Air Berlin rep. as well as the supervisor told me I had to pay another EUR 140 to bring the extra suitcase on board. Thus, making EUR 1,140 extra and saving EUR 500 on a situation like this made me really mad – to no avail – the supervisor just shrug her shoulders and said that's it. I broke my Air Berlin card and threw it on the desk promising myself never to travel with these greedy sharks again. Complete missing any situational awareness. On top of this they were hiding behind company policies not even giving me their full names in the event I wanted to complain. I will advise all to stay away from this insanity.

This company is an absolute disgrace.

This airline specialises in losing your luggage. If you have carry on only then take a chance but if you need to check in luggage this company does not know how to get it off or on the plane. You will be stood at the lost luggage counter with many other passengers.

If you are a masochist, go ahead and book a flight with these chancers. Have fun waiting for calls that never come whilst you pull your hair out waiting for these luggage losers to find your lost bags.

Don't believe me? Search around the internet and read the countless horror stories of people waiting months and longer to get their bags back.

Avoid this airline at all costs. A few quid off is not worth all the pain they cause losing your bags.

I can not recommend this company. Has now been stranded on Mallorca for almost 24 hours. Without information and a Departure time there has always been moved. The most useless airline I've ever experienced. And I have a lot of traveling.

The flight my wife and I took recently to Berlin thru Dusseldorf was ok, although the company staff and airplane service people seemed lackluster about their duties and gave conflicting information about connections, meals, etc (which proved to be wrong in some cases). The worst part of the whole experience was in AirBerlin's losing both of our bags, one for 4 days and the other for 18 days (it just reached our home today, almost a week after we returned from our trip). The baggage people in Berlin were particularly unhelpful, seemed not to care whether they found our luggage or not, and never answered the phone calls or emails we made to the numbers/addresses they gave us to check on search progress.

I don't know where to start to describe the dreadful experience that I've had with Air Berlin. I booked a flight a month ago from New York, JFK where I work and live to Bologna BLQ via Dusseldorf DUS for July 3, 2017. The departure time at JFK was 9:40pm (Flight No. 7481).
I was at the check-in point with plenty of time (7:00pm.)
The flight attendant told me "there is a 3-hour delay because a baby got sick on the plane and they had to land." She told me not to worry my connecting flight layover was 3.5 hours so I would have made it and they would have made up some time during the flight. At the gate I was told they had to change my connecting flight to Bologna to a later flight at 8:30pm instead of 2:55pm (a serious problem for me), but they told me that they only did that as a precaution in case I cannot make it to the original flight (8686 at 2:55pm) which is what I had booked. The attendant at the gate told me that once in Dusseldorf I would have been able to take the Flight 8686 at 2:55pm. I had to wait almost 6 hours and I only had a protein bar with me so I had to purchase food as I was starving, which cost me $15. We boarded at 12:45am with more than 3 hours delay. We finally took off and on board I asked what I should do once in Dusseldorf. They said as soon as outside the aircraft look for the information point with Air Berlin attendants and they would have told me where to go to get to the original flight 8686. The flight attendant sent me to Gate B56 and warned me to "hurry" because the flight was departing in less than an hour. I ran to Gate B56 only to find no one there. I went to another airline attendant who told me that Flight AB 8686 was at Gate 44 two floors down. I ran again with a heavy backpack and a carry-on, to the point that I felt breathless. I had to stop to catch my breath and I felt dizzy. Two police officers saw me and asked me if I was OK. I had to explain what happened to them because they were concern about my health. I finally made it to Gate B44. The Flight 8686 also departed with about 15 minutes delay. On board, I also had another mockery, I had to pay for coffee 鈧?.50 for a regular coffee with sugar. I was outraged, but I paid, as I needed to get some coffee. At that point I only wanted to get to my final destination. We finally landed in Bologna BLQ about 10 minutes late. There I had the final humiliation: my baggage was missing. I went to Baggage claim and was told that probably my suitcase was moved to a later flight which will land at night around 10:30pm. I filed a complaint form there and they told me they should call me if the baggage arrives and I would have to go back to the airport to pick it up. It is now 9:30pm and on the Air Berlin website there still no information about my baggage.
This has been a horrible experience. Air Berlin caused serious damages to me. I will now have to go back to the airport to hopefully pick up my luggage tonight. I'm exhausted and outraged by Air Berlin.

Stay away! Went on a trip to Budapest, and my flights were Copenhagen -> Berlin, Berlin -> Budapest. And the same return. ALL flights were delayed except for the one that was cancelled.
For the cancelled flight (which was at 11.30 pm) they booked me for another flight at 7.15 am the next morning, when showing up in the airport, I had no seat on that flight. Then they offered me a seat on a flight at 9.25 pm. I will never recommend airberlin to anyone.

Amateurs. They may have cheap tickets, but after several attempts to book additional luggage, both through web, phone and travel agent, I have had it. Never ever will another Air Berlin booking happen here.
