I signed up to this site years ago just after the Swiss ceo took over (I think Patrick is his name, I'm swiss myself) and they advertised that they'll provide a trip for the members to st. Kitties the carribean island completely free for all members..needless to say, said trip never came to to fruition, it was never mentioned again after I signed up for the membership, and my email inquiring about it was completely ignored, yet around 10!! Years later I still receive plenty of spam emails from them even after I unsubscribed from their mailing list.

As reviews below mentioned they will charge you without notice. But thats not the worst thing. I was a member for a while whilst living in Toronto and also attended get togethers all over the world. This network attracts the most insecure, bland people who have personalities of ping pong balls but are pretty wealthy. Every event is the same, boring stupid small talk, no substance, low self esteem, no charisma. Bunch of snobs really with nothing to say.

This service offers nothing and take your money without authorisation. Unfortunately i didnt pay with credit card so i couldnt report fraud! A day after they took the money for my membership I asked them to return it and cancel my annual membership and they said no. They automatically checked automatic renewal without my agreement. They are fallen company that's why they make money on this credit card scam!

Nothing exclusive. Anyone can become a member and people I met at their events were as ordinary and boring as random people you meet at random bars. Don't waste your time and money. And yes, they do charge without notice and deactivate your account without explanation. And the customer service refuses to refund and even accuses you of making a complaint. I argued back very logically by pointing out how unprofessional they were and eventually they gave me back my money. It took me some time though. I immediately deactivated my credit card for just in case.

A site for a bunch of elitest $#*!s who look down on normal people. Hopefully some serial killer will infiltrate the site and wipe some of them out.

If you want to give you financial information to a company that continues to take unauthorised payments with no warning in exchange for access to a hollow, vacuous community run by scammers, sign up to ASW today.

It lost the overall quality and trustworthy. Plus once you are a member they will take money from your account renew your subscription without notice – an automatic renewal disable function is not an option on the website. I asked for a refund few days later and they denied. It's all about money….

Now they even try to get popular by sending email spam. Today a big spam wave goes round the world. Very sad, one of the last attempts since several years to get more members…
NEVER NEVER opted in to any mailing list

Today a big spam wave is going around the world, seems to be one of the last efforts of ASmalworld to get more popular, since they did not succeed since many years… sad.

Unethical company with unethical practices.

They have renewed my subscription without notification or pre-warning.

I have cancelled my subscription minutes after the renewal and they refused to issue a refund. moreover, they terminated my account.

They insist on charging me a one year subscription for being few minutes late to cancel the subscription.

Under any sensible law, a physical product can be returned within 15 days without any questions asked. a respectful company would allow cancellation within 14 days of the renewal, as well as notify you by sending you an invoice ahead.

Who wants to sign up for a service like that ? stay away.

If you want to meet interesting people without worrying they might be serial killers, this is the place. Great people, great events. Received good advice when I was looking for a watch to buy. People who complain about the charge obviously didn't read the joining page because it says right on the page how much your next charge will be and on what date. Don't pay for something if you're not gonna read the terms.

I see a lot of negative review, I wanted to share my view.
I used to be a member and I stopped my membership in 2015 since it was not as active. I came back this year after I got invited to an ASW event in Munich by my friend as a guest. Since then I resubscribed and, I have to admit, no regret, there is a lot more activity and event for a travel active like me now! Keep up the good work SmallWorld! Could you push more services on the business side?

Exclusive place to broad our networking, make connections and share experiences worldwide. Been a member since 2005 and have met many nice people.

I have to say, this site has gone a long way since 2005-2008 when it had good content and was generally relevant. The last few ASW meetups that I attended was merely a handful of socially-awkward people, and the content became garbage.

asmallworld.net / asmallworld.com used to be a great site prior to them opening the flood gates in 2009/2010. The fee you used to pay on the site was life experience — it cost you life experience to get in. The original owner sold the site. Now, they have an actual fee of $110 to join, which anybody with no brains can do, and the site is no longer exclusive. Sadly, they bill you without permission, and they also shut down accounts without explanation, even when you have had little to no interaction on the site.

The site is garbage, and will probably close down or be sold again once the new moronic owners realize how far they've run the site into the ground. Definitely not worth wasting precious time on.

I joined ASW last year, unfortunately I didn't get a chance to use their services and this morning I was billed.
Doing this via paypal means the money is immediately withdrawn from your account without a forewarning email notification.
I contested this, and cancelled immediately and they aren't willing to do anything at all, which seems unreasonable seeing as it was moments after it was deducted.

Do not give these people any access to direct or recurring billing. My ex had a recurring payment set-up that was supposed to be cancelled by ASW since the two year auto renew had expired. It was charged on my account for my ex's membership. When I contacted ASW to reverse the charge and bill the subscriber, they refused and told me to seek reimbursement from the subscriber directly. Terrible and unethical business practices. I'm disputing directly with my payment company and expect resolution.

ASW are scammers who steal money from people's credit cards with their unrequested automatic renewal..avoid it like plague

ASW hidden auto-renewal policy sneakily took 2 years membership from me after I clearly asked them to remove my credit card and cancel my membership 2 years in a row! They do not want to give me a refund. Their community is empty, like a shell for a corrupt company…no valuable interactions. Stay AWAY!

In my opinion, A Smallworld does'nt adopts a fair commercial practice: f.e. they charged my cc without warning me for the automatic year renewal nor for other authorizations. Any serious company I know sends (at least) an email to remember the client of a service that a renewal act is in charge and they – in most cases – ask wether you want to confirm renew – if you're satisfied or not.

I received an email justification under the reading of their 'terms' that I have should done once and for all. Seriously? Any terms and conditions' changes should be notified before, in case they vary, and the renewal of any service communicated – as good practice prior to renewal, even if automatic.

Charged me without telling me they would or sending me a receipt for $110. I emailed asking them to refund this amount and they terminated my account and refused to refund me, what?!?!

Besides this their services are completely useless and require you to spend even more $ once you are subscribed.

You are a fool if you sign up with ASW, just look at EVERY SINGLE review online….

i had no notification of a 'renewal' charge of 拢90!! on a service i never logged in for.
i emailed asking to refunded and to cancel. their response was to cancel the NEW 16/17 MEMBERSHIP & Still not refund me!! saying i have no rights!?

absolute bull and in discussion with Dailymail about launching a story to uncover the truth in these 'paid social media sites"

on a service note…

no one talk on ASW. its all brag. no one helps or wants to know you.
if you don't live in London (which i don't) you cant use anything.

a total scam. i got tricked into it! but you don't have to!

listen to my advice. stay away!!

ASW is a real scam! They had very limited things happening in my town and when my subscription expired they automatically renewed it, charging my credit card and when I said I wanted to quit they said they wouldn't refund me. Stay away!
