I wanted to post notice that @astrillvpn has become an untrustworthy company. They apparently care about money to the point they deny they are auto-renewing subscriptions using payment on record, but are doing just that. When I questioned them, they denied it, refused to reverse the charge despite the payment not being due as of my identifying the unauthorized charge, nor would they conduct an investigation as to how the auto-charge happened. This is forcing me to actually lock my account for about 2 weeks to get a new card as they simply re-charge after every contest I push with my bank account.

Any company that takes these actions are NOT TO BE TRUSTED WITH YOUR PRIVACY as a VPN provider. If they鈥檙e willing to put money first & hope people either don鈥檛 notice or contest it, they are willing to do worse with their data. It is sad to see a company with such potential reach this point, but apart from a full leadership changeout, you cannot trust the decisions of the leaders who drove the company to this point. For this reason, I revoke my endorsement for Astrill VPN.

This company has also been reported to the FTC.

It's a good site to beable to test if your VPN has DNS leak or your IP isn't really hidden like it says it is. I have not used AstrillVPN, but this site has a usefull utility on it. Great to check and see if the VPN I use is leaking my IP.

Astrill has been a reliable VPN in China for years. When people had issues with Express and other cheaper options, I almost took pleasure in knowing I have little to no issues with mine. Unfortunately, it all changed recently and Astrill is not what is used to be: it barely works on my phone (you can find free VPN with equal "quality") and I constanlty keep changing servers on my computer to get a reliable connection. Astrill is well-aware of the issue and they have taken a completely wrong approach: they deny issues, block public complaints on their facebook page, do not offer any option of money return and basically just keep giving you basic suggestions to refresh, restart, reinstall, change options, etc. Basically, they make a fool out of you while they are perfectly aware that the service they offer is not good anymore. They have been unresponsive to some of my friends too. On top of it, they are the most expensive VPN by far. Avoid.

I bought three astrill vpn account, but all dead.
I bought one and then they killed, asked for reactivating my account, but didn't work. So I bought another one, it's dead again. same black hole. Third one is also dead. Astrill, you will lose your customers, if you do like this.
Please give my account. I lost $300! Terrible!

Terrible company to deal with. They sold me on their business plan for some of our traveling sales staff. I was impressed by the number of servers and the speed. But it's been a nightmare ever since:

Went to pay and found they didn't take credit cards. Only non-refundable/chargebackable methods of payment. (red flag)

They prefer crypto. Most businesses don't pay with bitcoin. (red flag)

Installed the software manually on PCs for testing after their support told us that we couldn't configure the software via a configuration file or registry edits or ANYTHING. (major red flag but we figured it was a 1 time time-suck)

Received tickets that users couldn't access the internet unless their VPN was connected. Had to do re-installs.

Users complaining about the number of pop-ups from the application such as stupid "tips of the day" and "how would you rate us?"

An update comes out. I go to push it out via our server because A) our users run as user, not admin (like any other sane business in the world) and B) I'm not having a tech schedule time with 25 sales people to do a manual update every few months.

No can do – Astrill uses an installer from 1995. I contact their support for assistance and am told "you can use powershell to install". I ask for an article (like, hey, what are the parameters to send?) and am told I need to give my users local admin privileges ([email protected]# from a company that claims to sell VPN services for *security minded people*)

I ask to cancel our service and receive a partial refund as none of this is documented on their site nor was communicated during the purchasing and IT IS NOT NORMAL for business software. "No refunds"

I ask to escalate the ticket to see what can possibly be done. "maybe use the windows vpn client"

One of the worst experiences I've ever had with a software solution.

Impossible to use this VPN in China.

No free trial.

Inadequate answers when submitting messages

Difficult to chat and only in English

No refunds policy.

Expensive.

Very bad experience.

I bought their VPN for one year, it cost $120, and the connection was very slow. Even I downloaded the client from their official website for nearly half an hour. The online customer service page could not be opened. I sent an email saying that I need a refund. They avoided this problem and then they frozen my account the next day for the following reasons:
5.3 You agree that you will not engage in any activity that interferes with or disrupts the Services (or the servers and networks which are connected to the Services). This includes but is not limited to spamming, hacking, network attacks. Using Astrill service with any automated tools (for example but not limited to web crawlers, SEO tools, web spamming tools etc…) is not allowed.
Need me to provide:
1. List of add ons installed in your browser
2. List of programs installed in your device
3. Scan result of an antivirus.

I didn't use these things, but considering the privacy issues, I wouldn't submit these things, I only need a refund, I only used it for a day, then they told me that the refund was impossible.

Not all servers work
Don鈥檛 believe when they say many countries are covered
I did a research on their covered countries before buying it, and the country I wanted was listed on the server, but it connects to different country!
Do not recommend it and they do not refund you ?

Move away from these arrogant clowns who probably think that a customer is at their feets!
Here is the kind of email the support dares to send to potential customer before the free trial period:
"Hi DIVERS,
Such attitude will lead you nowhere. It's not a right to be our customer, it's a privilege. We can refuse service to anyone.
If you asked politely, I would fix this for you.
Best regards,
Astrill VPN Support"

I'm using the service of Astrill the last years (since 2012) as I was living in China and locked our for a provide how could help me to connect with the world out their.
From the beginning I'm using the VPN service on the router which worked and is working very good and stable! I had some connection issues during that time as China was tidding up their policies – but here all VPN provider had issues…I opened up a ticket, got worked on it and after some days and patient it worked again.
Also installed the apk on several devices (Android, iOS, Windows 10) so that when I'm travelling I can stil use the service.
The only thing which Astrill has to catch up in time, updates of their router plug-in! As the router company is updating the firmware constantly out of security reason, which then I would like to flash in, but Astrill recommends not to run on the newest router firmware as their plug-in maid not working…

I have used Astrill for quite a few years and have had generally good experiences the numerous times i have raised issues. In reading the other comments and comparing to other VPNs i also use or have used, i do not think Astrill has overall been rated fairly. I do think their IOS app is antiquated for instance and they have been slow on some new tech like v2ray, shadowsocks and wireguard. But overall they are very solid and certainly very trustworthy and their consumer support is well above industry norms

Very bad VPN

I have paid 140 USD for this VPN.
But it has many critical issues in it.

– It crashes often(Windows, MAC, Android, iPhone).
– I can't select regions flexibly.
– Support is very slow.
– This worked for 1 month but not working now, but support is very very very slow to solve this issue.

I just updated to the latest version but not work also.

NEVER USE THIS VPN !!!

Dreadful. Having problems with my standard Astrill package, I was advised by them to buy a private IP. I paid $99 for the IP but it's so slow it's unusable. They refuse to give me a refund and are offering to transfer me to another Private IP instead. Trouble is, they have no stock of other IP's and can't tell me when one will be available. Meanwhile, I'm $99 poorer and have an Astrill private IP that's unusable. Use another VPN provider, there's lots of choice and much better customer service!!

Purchase three month account but astrill charge twice( double payment)..still waiting for refund, already contacted my bank about astrill company.Got slow speed my original speed is 50/15 but with astrill got only 30/12 and I use nearest server.Astrill offer port forwarding but unfortunatelly not worked.Tested by astrill app on win 10, tomato router and asus merlin router.Contacted support but they not responded on my email.Stay away guys from astrill.Very bad support.Guys dont trust this company..all reviews on this website is fake…I have still active account but this company not allowed me to put review because is no option for this and when I tried contact support there is no answer…bad,bad,bad company

Total waste of money, bought a 1 year subscription and Astrill has not worked at all in the 3 weeks we have been in China. However we have had no problems with the free VPNs available.

Astrill vpn blaming every one else , ive been using same isp and mail provider for more than 5 years and they been very stabile and they had the nerve to blame them and call my isp and mail providers fault that i didnt recive email about the order i made, well if i cant recive mails from them i cant pay them , i dont recommand that people use this company , and i sure gonna tell jacks2cent about it as well, dont think he will recommend a company thats pointing fingers at anyone else but them self.

Astrill chew me,i am reseller, i paid $7500 for Invoice.

But Customer service told me that the order has been canceled.

i want get my money,but the told me can't refund.

Good service with possibly low rates than other VPNs.

When you can get similar good service than why to pay high….?

I have been a happy customer of Astrill and the services provided for several years until I repurchased a 3 months VPN plan a month ago, as this product simply did not work.

I reported my problems, they acknowledged they have problems with my configuration using iPad in China and the feedback was quite vague as they did not have a solution to my problem. They promised that the solution would be ready soon with no schedule stated.

I asked to get my money back, but they refused as this is not their policy. Instead they gave added one month to my plan – which I thought was quite funny, what was I going to use one month for of something that doesn't work? Today, almost one month later they still don't have a solution.

I have now given up. If you consider purchasing a VPN plan with Astrill then don't. It is not worth it, they don't have the technical capability to solve the customer issues and the support is basically worthless. I write off the money spent and will find another provider, that can offer me a trust worthy and reliable solution.

What happened to you, Astrill?
