Authorize.net has been holding $8097 in customer payments for more than 56 days and refuses to release the funds to me for 90 days. All customers have had the funds withdrawn from their accounts and have signed written agreements to have the funds transferred via ACH. I have never had one customer cancel a check or credit card payment, and I have excellent credit. I've already paid for and shipped all the products to the customers, and they're satisfied with the products.

This is a painful dent in my small business cash flow. Business is hard enough without someone suddenly keeping your money for 90 days!

I first signed up for authorize.net as a payment gateway because I needed both credit card and ACH echeck services. I entered the first customer check payments as instructed, and the funds were withdrawn from the customers' bank accounts.

Then authorize refused to give the money to me and said it was on hold for 30 days. I asked if there was a problem with the customers banks being able to pay, and they said no. I double-checked with the customers and they confirmed the funds had been withdrawn from their accounts and they were satisfied with my products.

After 40 days, I checked with authorize and they said authorize was now keeping my money for 90 days. Still no explanation or justification. I sent written signed agreements from each of the customers showing they had agreed to have the funds withdrawn from their accounts.

Getting desperate because of this painful dent in my cash flow, I called and emailed support, involved my payment processor and asked my bank for help. Each time, was told the funds remain on hold for 90 days.

It's now been 56 days and I still have not received my first three customer payments via check totaling $8097.

Thankfully, I've found another gateway and payment processor and will avoid authorize.net like the plague.

I was looking for a processing company and put through an application BUT they couldn't help me out as I'm Canadian and needed an SSN or ITIN in order to open an account. Little did I know they were charging me monthly for a service I never did get! When I noticed the payments coming out of my account 10 months LATER I called the bank and had them cancel the charges and reverse the last few payments. After I did this I got a message from Authorize.net saying I OWED them money! FOR WHAT?! I just now got a letter from collections OMG saying I owe $100 OMG! I call this Authorize.net and I give the lady the last 4 digits of my bank account the name of my company the address and e-mail… she said she can find it and needs me to login to their website, this is where I said NO I'm not logging into anything to do with this company! DO NOT give them your bank info or anything else they are scammers. I'm not sure what to do about this being Canadian. Avoid the website and anything to do with this company!

As software for processing credit cards, TrustPilot is a has-been. There is better complimentary software out there. Automatic billing is completely separate from customer profiles, so looking up billing contracts for a particular client is not a good process. If you want to see what the next bill date is in an automatic billing contract, you have to look up the last bill and then calculate in your head when the next one is by looking at the frequency field. If you want to set up automatic billing before you run your first charge manually, Authorize.net forces you to create a duplicate customer account! Every process in there has weirdness like that. Stuff that may have been tolerable 20 years ago, but for such an expensive software, it's a has-been.

We have been using authorize.net on our website since 2002. I have always had a wonderful experience with the people that I work with there. Additionally for our customers, they provide comfort that their information will be safe… with one of THE most secure platforms around.

Authorize.net is not recommended. Many bad experiences.
1. Authorize.net keeps changing formats causing you to have to ask your developer to keep updating. Otherwise your processor will not work properly.
2. Authorize.net has a poor system to detect fraud. I lost over $30k in fraud payments due to Authorize.net poor system. I had to ask my developer to program ways to detect fraud and not rely on Authorize.net.
3. Authorize.net requires and forces you to change passwords every 3 months. It is a big hassle especially if you have more than one person who needs to log in. Being forced to change your password every 3 months is a nuisance .

Too bad I can't leave 0 or negative ratings. 1 star isn't even deserved.

Outdated fraud detection. We received a few charge-backs (due to the outdated fraud detection) and the notices were sent to us via standard mail. We received them less than 24 hours before a response was due.

Fast forward a few weeks and they closed our merchant account. OK fine. We've been meaning to move away from Authorize.net anyways. HOWEVER, we received an order at 8am and confirmation from Authorize.net stating the payment was approved. 9 hours later, at 5pm, we were informed our account has been closed. 2 hours after that we received an e-mail stating the settlement of the transaction at 8am failed. We fulfill orders the same day they are received. Essentially, we shipped the products out but didn't receive payment due to unacceptable and negligent errors on Authorize.net's end.

We own a portfolio of online businesses and have worked with many payment gateways both currently and in the past. This was our first and absolutely our last experience with authorize.net. Avoid doing business with this company.

We had an absolutely horrible experience with using this company as our payment processor. Not only are they horribly mismanaged and unorganized but they constantly tried to sneak in additional fees hoping we would not catch them. Even after realizing what was going on and calling them out on it and going through fee negotiations, they still tried to sneak in fees that were explicitly against the agreement we made. I don't think we could have had any worse of an experience with this company.

This site looks like it hasn't been updated in 10 years. It's hard to use, and they put the wrong category for my business on the customer statements. They said it's coming from Chase/Paymentech, but I called Chase, and they told me it's coming from Authorize.net because it is correct in their system.

If you want to pass the name on the card, you have to use two fields for first and last names. You cannot use one full name field like Amazon does, for example. Internally we use only one field because we sell to different countries and one field is much easier for our customers who are not in the U.S.

Their customer service is terrible as well. I was trying to enable the PayPal option, but it gave me an error. I opened a case, and they just closed it after two weeks and said they have no estimate when it will be fixed. They also said they escalated it to an engineer and asked me for my login names, but 6 months later it is still not fixed! I even posted it on their community board, but received no reply from anyone. I did not really wait for them and integrated PayPal directly without Authorize.net, and it works fine.

Also their SDK is old. It does not work with. NET Core. They uploaded a beta release 4 years ago, which no longer works, and they never bothered to update it. They literally said they will support it and then never updated it or even replied to any one asking if update is coming.

I am considering moving to Stripe or another service that's more up-to-date and easier to use.

This site looks like it hasn't been updated in 10 years. It's hard to use, and for some reason uses my personal email and phone number (and not business email/number) by default to notify customers of refunds and disputes.

I mean, they are one of the worst card organization next to 2checkout. Whoever writes these policies is on drugs. They favor cryptocurrencies more than real funds. Ugly organization out there!

We had to change our companies credit card because of authorize.net. We implemented a payment gateway solution from them for testing. After discusssing this with authorize.net they reassured as many times that for testing there are no costs. Without our notice they just turned on the service to live mode after a few days, which we never asked. We also never signed any documents for this and were only registering for the test. When we tried to cancel this they started to message back and forth always waiting a couple days before replying. In the end they charged us several hundred USD for services we never subscribed nor registered for. To come to a solution we had to call costly call centers in the UK.

They also knew that this was all only on a test project and not a single transaction was made. However, in the end they basically just "stole" money. This is one of the most criminal companies I came around in the last 20 years. Highly recommend any business owners to stay away as basically everything you do will turn into trouble. When I asked other startups they all experienced the same rip-off methods and get lured in with simply test something while within 24-48hrs they already turn everything live without notice.

I was notified of the approval of an account with Authorize.net. The account would not be active unless I switch the Authorize.Net account to live mode. Which I have never done. It says it's in test mode. Not only that but my merchant account approval is still pending, so I can't really use the account anyways. So I have been sneakily charged for two months on a service I have never activated, that I can't even use, even if I wanted to. When I called to complain, they closed the account and only reimbursed me partially. What a scam. How is this even legal?

Someone named Aaron Campbell is trying to get me to sign up right now so he can use his credit card to pay me. The whole thing sounds like a scam since he claims he has no way to pay me except through this site. He also says he will reimburse me for my sign up fee.

These idiots charges you upfront for a payment gateway then they send you bunch of affiliate links to merchant accounts so even if you get denied they still charge for you for the gateway lmao they are bunch of scammers and losers.

They don't cancel your account and continue to charge you $25 per month forever. I have called, chatted, and emailed with them 3 times now, this is my third time they told me it's canceled. I don't trust them at all. I wouldn't be surprised if I saw another $25 charge next month. STAY AWAY FROM AUTHORIZE.NET!

I wish I read these reviews before dealing with this company. I don't know how they're still in business with all of the bad reviews. The customer service is terrible, they suspended both my accounts for no reason. I still haven't received payment from them and it's been 6 months. Again, STAY AWAY!!!!

This company is a fraud they charge you after you close your account with them and tell you they will refund you but don't do it. Then after they finally refund you 3 months later they try to charge you again. This company is a team of scammers. Use any other merchant service except these frauds.

Don't waste your time with these clowns. They don't even have the wherewithall to answer a simple email or phone call. I have wasted weeks trying to get my account switched over to my new company from my old one.

Do not use them! Horrible customer service!! It's been over 2 months since we got approved for Authorize.Net but my account is still on test mode. I have tried to call to get help to activate it over 6 times no one HAS EVER PICKED UP!!!! Each time I have waited over 45 minutes! It was easier to find another company and do another application than waiting for someone to help from Authorize.Net!!! I do not recommend them at all!!!

First off they connected me with a terrible merchant that was hiding my profits and claimed to charge 10% that theyd give back in 6 months which they never do, they just charge you 10% ontop of all of the other fees. Secondly when I cancelled with them because I had to, they randomly started another recurring payment of 19.95 even after I got the cancellation confirmation in my email… How does that make any sense, f***in frauds…

I was asked to use the site from someone who claimed being a lawyer and wanting to buy my site using crypto-currency, everything seemed suspicious, so I just checked your comments, thank you for your help.

This was the email I received:

Ok. To proceed further you need to send us the law compliance certificate for Saudi Arabia.

Only you as the owner can order the certification.

It's a common way of doing domain business in Japan and Korea. This is a well known domain certification service in Japan and Korea. They are owned by a large payment processor and provide certificates in English and Japanese/Korean languages. It's important for our clients and their banks.
My client borrows part of the funds in his bank to buy the domain and the bank requires an independent valuation certificate of the domain name (appraisal). The certification agency must also provide a copy in his native language upon request to be accepted by my client and his bank.

I talked to the buyer and he confirmed his intentions so there is no risk for you. You can be sure he will buy after you order the certification. I worked with him before. He is a reliable buyer. The buyer guarantees to pay you the price I mentioned earlier.

Please submit your domain for certification at "authorizedotnet"

They provide a copy of the certificate in Japanese/Korean. This is the authorized certification agency. They also provide full money back guarantee. It guarantees us a smooth transaction and no risk of loosing money for you.

There is no risk for you to pay the fee. If you don't sell they will give the full refund. It's the only risk free way for you and my buyer to proceed.

There are only two scenarios for you:

1. You order the certificate. It's accepted by the buyer's bank and you get your money.

2. You order the certificate. In case the certificate is not accepted by the bank or the sale fails by another reason, you can easily get a refund. The recommended agency provides full refund if you don't sell your domain within 2 weeks. Based on my experience there is no chance for this scenario. If you order the certificate at a proper agency it will be accepted by the escrow service.
