Shocking that this company is still operating. ZERO customer service, took 400 euro from my credit card which was charged 1 hour before I handed in the car back at the airport. Still cannot access invoice and no one can explain what 'damage' it was. TOTAL SCAM

Total fraud. They deducted nearly 400 Euros from our credit card for a supposed damage one hour before we brought the car back. Five weeks later, Avis Netherlands can still not tell us why this money was deducted and are unable to send us a bill. What a crappy company.

A confusing return turned out okay.
I rented a car during the Corona lock-down and the day before pick-up I was told to come to their downtown location instead of the south one, since their south location was closed.
On the rental agreement they didn't update the return address, so here it was still set to be the south location. Despite the confusion and insecurity about where I had to return it, it all turned out okay. I mailed and called their customer service both in NL and DK, and they were all very understanding.
The rental turned out good and nothing to put on either car quality or customer service level. Only a human mistake forgetting to inform me properly about the return. Always happy with Avis and especially that they don't have a kilometre limit on rentals.

Avis Car Rental Milan Malpensa worst experience in feb 2020
– waited 1 hour before the car arrived
– made a reservation for a Jeep Compass 4×4 with wintertyres
– got a Dacia Lodgy Stepway with summertyres

Afterwards I claimed a downgrade at Avis Customerservice. You will not believe what they told me: "it is an upgrade, but you do not have to pay extra!!"

My advice is never rent a car from Avis!

Awful. From beginning till end. Money is being constantly taken out of my card and every time the reason is different. Customer service even worse. They are scammers.

Verry bad!

I get the car from the lower category the i paid for, i paid for group E and i get Groep D.

Also they promiss me for a compensation because i wait for more then 2 hours for my car at Johannesburg. But i get nothing!

Dont book a car here!

I should've checked all the reviews here before going for it. They charge me 170 euro for an inch scratch on protective cover of the car wheel. The scratch is so small that I didn't notice it at first place when the car was clean.

I've been charged 950 EU for scratches on an Opel. We took the car to an Opel dealer to find out how much it would cost to repair , estimated was min 70 max 200. The receptionist at AVIS went so far as to estimate the damages to 4 000 EU. I've been phoning for 6 weeks continuously and every time I get promised an e-mail of a copy of the repairs and that my situation will get escalated …

Very bad company

Computer system was down when we arrived so they put in everything by hand. Was still charged for the original reservation. Kept me going until it was to late to get anything back from the credit card company.

Every reaction takes 8 working days for response.

The worst experience ever. They told us different things when we picked up the car and different when we returned it. Nobody explained the charges correctly and when we sent an email back they were not polite at all claiming that is our fault and we have to be more careful next time.

Bad experience with @Avis_Spain. Previously reported and got poor response from customer service. Be warned price can suddenly be increased, as if it were normal! outrageous behavior of arrogant staff. No solution after our complaints #fail #rental @budget @Avis #avis #flappdrol

To have good time at Kruger park we decided to book 4×4 car to be sure that we will not have problems during two weeks photo holidays. During booking at AVIS in the Netherlands I had good service. The price for 4×4 car is about double and we decided to take 360 insurance to be sure that we will not have problems later.
Unfortunately at start point Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (Nelspruit) situation was totally different. They didn't had 4×4 car (even we paid all reservation fee in front and agreed very clear about to get 4×4 car). Woman on check-in desk was very surprise why we want so much 4×4? After long discussion (not very nice 2 hours to discuss, in place to spent time in Kruger, especially then it closing time is sharp) we agreed that they will bring to our hotel 4×4 car in evening. As small compensation we got GPS for free (so was agreed and written on the form, it is not possible to use it in park). We got a promised car on evening and it was ok situation. After few days we been back from holidays in South Africa, I got very not nice surprise again – they found some damage on car (later? – after few days, not clear on which car?) and we not need to worry, because insurance will pay. I didn't agreed with any damage, because during delivering the car was no damage at all and it is written in the report. I was surprise again few more times… I got a bill (the money were taken from my credit card immediately) for the GPS, gas (we filed in full tank before delivery) and etc and also administration cost because of damage (which we didn鈥檛 had during delivering back car). I wrote immediately email that I not agree with it. They wrote back 鈥?I need to pay administration fee, because of damage (again which we didn鈥檛). I called to AVIS again about all situation. The woman on telephone promised me they going to re-open the case. Nothing happen yet. I wrote again email- the same answer 鈥?we need to pay. I called again鈥?br />
I just wonder is indeed AVIS has right just to charge you for that they want and when they want?

As a member of presidents club (spending lot of money) I expected a respectful treatment and not tried to be bullshited. Avis did that.
I recommend to anyone that is wasting his money in Avis to stop that as they really don't care, I had many times small problems with them but I gave them a chance again and again and they kept disappointing me again and again until it was so rude that I didn't accept anymore.

Financial problem
Avis overcharged credit card with 鈧?582,35, after already 鈧?483,80 had been reserved for a damage claim. Total 鈧?1.066,15
The damage claim is covered by AXA (case nr. 17010718) and in process. AXA will indemnify me, after assessing claim. That Avis reserves the damages (i.e. ca. 鈧?483,80) is OK, but not more than that.
Now more than three weeks later. I have received in total an ununderstandable invoice, an ununderstandable credit invoice for 0,01 Euro and a new ununderstandable invoice. I requested Avis time and again for an explanation, but received nothing. We are not finished yet.

Pick-up problem
On arrival on may 1 in Catania we wanted to pickup our BMW 2 Tourer or equivalent at the Avis counter. The salesgirl wanted first to know how many we were in our party and how many suitcases we had. These questions are completely irrelevant if you have a preselected type of car. Then the salesgirl tried to sell us a more expensive type Volvo V 60. The extra cost would be 鈧?55,- I rented my car for 鈧?597 from may 1 to may 15. I told her I was not interested in this Volvo. I was shocked to find out later that this Volvo is now available for 鈧?391 for 15 days or the reserved BMW for 鈧?372).
A perfect AVIS/KLM Cartrawler ripp off. Then the salesgirl tried to sell me an expensive full fuel arrangement by asking 鈧?1,86 excl. vat for diesel, while the market price at filling stations is 鈧?1,39). I refused that too, beause I had reserved a full-to-full contract. Avis reserved a refuel amount of 鈧?98,55 on my credit card, which was removed after car return. Then the salesgirl wanted me to buy excess damage coverage. I showed her my policy from AXA, but that was refused, telling me that AXA was just a personal policy. I again told her that I did not want the Avis insurance and that she could gladly reserve 鈧?2.400 on my credit card.
Then the salesgirl wanted to sell me insurance for towing away the car in case of a flat tyre for 鈧?5,- per day. That I refused (I found out later that it was also covered by AXA). When I asked for an emergency telephone number in case of the (highly improbable) flat tyre, the salesgirl refused to give one, telling me that that would be my own problem. I asked the if I could call their office to get a telephone number in case I needed an Avis preferred tow away company. I got the Airport Catania nr. 095340500 (as on my contract) with the restriction form 9-5 office hours.
We ended up with a black Mercedes A 160D Aut. although the contract stated white and there was a BMW emblem on the keycard.
The car was perfect, that even Avis/KLM Cartrawler could not spoil !!!

I was charged over 150 EURO for no reason, many days after I left the country. I had several emails with them and they could not justify the charge!

I will never use AVIS again, and you should not either, especially in NL!

Recently I rent a car from avis office in Schonefeld, Germany. Ridiculous clerk attitude, they charged me 450 euros for a "right wing mirror casing scratch" , a little scratch that the avis clerks knew was there before i took the car and I'm saying this because the man who "checked" the car went straight to the mirror telling "oh theres a scratch here" not even looking the car for 2 seconds. If you want to have a pleasant and peaceful trip DON'T EVER EVER RENT A CAR FROM THIS JOKE OF A COMPANY!
