Just to say had some carpets and flooring laid today. We must say we would thoroughly recommend carpet store from visiting the store to selecting what carpet and flooring we wanted. Shane the owner was so professional and helpful. The father and son who laid the flooring did a fantastic job very personably and nothing was too much trouble for them. Certainly, we would recommend them.

Thank you.

I was getting quotes for a real estate client and the recommendation was to vinyl plank over an engineered hardwood floor. Ryan came over and explained the risk of this kind of installation, and instead of selling me on an alternative product, gave me the name of someone that may be able to help. Thank you!

I admit this FINALE about our den flooring is lengthy but I hope if you care about your investment and you have pride in your home you will read the whole thing and heed the warning.

Karol from Carpet One called on June 1st and told me that IVC wanted some more pictures of the den flooring and she asked me to take some more pictures of the whole den and the bad spots and send them to her.

We took five more pictures and I sent them to her along with an e-mail that said 鈥淲e worked with Chan and the owner when we replaced the carpet in our whole home about twelve years ago and that worked great. We worked with him again when we replaced the carpet on the lanai and he suggested marine carpet for out there and that worked great. We worked with him again when we replaced the laminate flooring with this vinyl flooring and that is when the problems started. After the first bubble appeared they came out and put a slit in the flooring and it went away for a short time but came back and now there are two bubbles as well as the peeling off of the top layer so I hope this will get taken care of now.鈥?br />

Karol sent me a reply that said 鈥淢r. Richter, Thank you for the pictures. We will be attaching them to the claim we have already filed with IVC/Mohawk and request a report. I am also attaching copies of your original signed contract for your review. Please be aware of the fact that your warranty from Carpet One Floor & Home expired 1 year after purchase which would have been November 2015, see documentation which you also have copies of which states that a manufactured home or rental property only has a one-year labor/installation warranty. Also, please see attached the warranty and care information from IVC. This information is readily available through their website. Carpet One has no liability for the labor or the product as you have stated. As a courtesy, we have filed a claim with IVC and the final decision on the product will come from IVC the manufacturer, who will be forwarding you a response letter. Thank you, Karol.鈥?br />
As we assumed, we don鈥檛 think they are going to do anything. I love her wording 鈥?they are filing this with IVC as a courtesy to us because they only have a one-year warranty on labor and installation and yet IVC told me that the claim has to come from the installer because their product has a 25-year warranty 鈥?so apparently these two companies really don鈥檛 care about anyone.

On June 6th Carpet One posted the above response to my review of them that said 鈥淩esponse from the owner鈥?so I called the owner at Carpet One and Rachael said that Mr Gilbert isn鈥檛 in right now but she left him a message to call me back later.
Of course he didn鈥檛 call me back but Karol did and she left us a message that she got my message and she told us that they have the claim sent in to IVC and they will let us know what happens when they get back to them but it could take a couple weeks.
We really don鈥檛 expect anything from them but we will wait and see what they say and plan on doing about this.

On June 11th I got the following e-mail from Karol 鈥淐laim Letter. Mr. Richter, We have received the final report on the claim we filed with IVC US. I have attached a copy of the letter for your review. If you have any questions, please give us a call or you can call IVC directly at the number listed on the letter and reference claim number 1296712. Regards, Karol.鈥?br />
The final report from IVC stated 鈥渢his claim is denied at this time as caster damage is not a warranted issue.鈥?br />
This is really strange seeing as how they brought the samples to our home and we sat in the den and picked out the flooring we wanted and we were in the den with our desks. We also paid extra for the installation because they had to send some strong individuals to move the desks and other furniture before removing the laminate flooring and then replace these items after installing the vinyl flooring so it was common knowledge where and how this would be used.
I understand that us individuals don鈥檛 stand a chance against large corporations and obviously we lost $1,400 on this mistake but if one person reads this and doesn鈥檛 get cheated by them, it will help heal the wounds a little 鈥?so please beware of dealing with these two companies.

After reading this reply from Carpet One which obviously is more than I can say for them I added these comments. First – they did come to our home with the samples so they knew this flooring was going in the den with desks and chairs so that part is WRONG. Second – the comment about modular home is completely false because our development has permanent block homes built on a foundation so they are WRONG AGAIN. I can only assume this is a feeble attempt to CYA with no regard to the truth or the facts so my attitude remains the same 鈥?BUYER BEWARE.

BEWARE of this Carpet One Floor & Home in Ocala and The Villages, FL. They did not complete the job and therefore we refused to sign the Certificate of Completion or pay the balance due until the job was done. The owner, Gary Gilbert, became belligerent and disrespectful threatening us with legal action including PUTTING A LIEN on our home unless we paid the balance before the work was completed. At one point in the conversation he called me a liar. Mr. Gilbert determines whether a job is done by the amount of time he allocates, as opposed to whether all the work is actually done. If we could give them zero stars we would. We wish we had done our homework and read about them on the Better Business Bureau site before we went with this Carpet One franchise, as there were numerous similar complaints about the company and the owner, Gary Gilbert.

Our nightmare with Carpet One began in October of 2017 and is still continuing. They sold us an Armstrong Luxury Vinyl Tile and told us it could be installed without grout. The floor was a disaster as the tiles had large spaces between them and were of uneven height. We immediately called the corporate office of Armstrong Floors and they told us that this tile MUST be laid with grout (why didn't Carpet One know that?), and therefore Carpet One had incorrectly laid down the floor. The uneven height of the tiles was due to the Carpet One installers not correctly preparing, leveling and sanding the floor before they laid the tiles. Our home was in shambles, furniture moved out, our delicate collectables in our china cabinets wrapped and piled in other rooms. We had no use of our family room. We were beside ourselves. When they returned to rip up the floor and start all over with a second new tile, a Karndean Luxury tile, there was yet another disaster, as this second floor now has lumps and waves and many of the tiles are of uneven height and spacing. We brought in an outside flooring professional who told us that the reason for all the bumps in the tile is that the Carpet One installers did not prepare the floor correctly before they laid the tile. To make matters even worse, the installers also gouged our wall (they didn't offer to repair it), broke a lantern (they didn't offer to replace it), did not put back our stove, and did not finish installing all of the transitions or molding.

They have incompetent and unprepared installers that did not bring enough materials to complete the work. The second crew of installers didn't bring enough leveling compound or a vacuum cleaner to clean their mess. Then they asked to borrow our extension cords, drill, nails, acetone, and a dust pan because they didn't bring those things with them. They showed up late for work every day sometimes as much as four hours late without giving us a courtesy phone call.

I fully expect the owner, Gary Gilbert, to do what he has done with the many other complaints registered on some of the other sites, & that is he will claim zero responsibility and will disparage this complaint as he has done with the others. I emphatically urge anyone to think twice before doing business with this disreputable company.

Started out great on 1/27/18 with Jeremiah in the store; decent pricing, good attitude. However we were told that the installers worked for Carpet one, so we didn't have to worry about sub standard work. They DO NOT, they are subcontractors, Late every morning and left early every day. What was suppose to take 2 days took a week, and it has still not been completed after 2 1/2 months. we love the tile and for the most part the installation is ok, however the installer cut the carpet way to short where the carpet and tile meet, therefore we still have a large, noticeable "crack" where they meet. They sent someone out but didn't send him with anything to fix the problem, and he stated that "this was done all wrong". (WE know that). He said he would let Carpet one know. They already know, but want us to pay for the piece that joins the carpet and tile. They used a fixed sanded grout in the seam between the tile and a laminate floor which cracked after a week. Sent someone to replace the grout with a flexible grout. Have not heard a word from Gary, the owner who is aware of the issues. Be careful choosing this business! We regret doing so. We should have just purchased the tile and let ANW flooring on Baseline install. They did our dining and kitchen floor PERFECTLY.

Experience was very good. I didn't give 5 stars because I felt there should have been a bit more proactiveness. Like someone visiting site during install or at least check in to see if correct carpet was delivered and all going well.

Carpet One is absolutely amazing from start to finish – from the moment we walked into the showroom Robert Zubieta educated us on the different kinds of fibers, pile heights, pads, and more! He asked us many questions to gain an understanding of what carpet fit our lifestyle best, and worked with our ever changing budget and time-frame through the home buying process!! Never did we feel pressured for anything, we were told "relax, we're going to take care of you!" and they 100% came through on that promise!!! Soooo happy with the carpet, installation was swift and no-nonsense, each piece fit perfectly and they left it clean for us to immediately enjoy…can't say enough good about Carpet One – I would recommend Carpet One to anyone! Thank you!!

We were very pleased with Carpet One and especially Ryan Gilbert. We had gone to one other carpet store but felt Carpet One was very competitively priced and would give us the best service and they did.
