Co-op Insurance

This insurance company will put exclusions on your policy for every body part your pet has ever had any treatment on. For example, I paid for a dental scale and polish, insurance now excludes anything dental. For example, dog had painkillers last year for early indications of a back problem- not worth claiming for that. This year, back鈥檚 got worse and needs an operation… surprise, the insurance co. has put an exclusion on the policy. Very very unhappy now as my poor daxie cannot have her spinal surgery.

I was sent the cost of renewing my House & Contents policy with the Co-op for the next year. I have only made one claim in over 30 years to any insurance company. It reduced by 1% last year but SHOCK & HORROR the building increased by 33% & contents by 27%. I call this 鈥渁buse of power鈥?
I phoned them & the customer service guy could not give any explanation. I was transferred to a senior manager who could not give any credible reason, so I got to speak to the manager who did not have a clue when I asked WHY! I moved.
They are not the company they used to be. Leave well alone

Took out home insurance with co op and I can honestly say I鈥檝e never experienced anything so bad. Called for there home emergency to have my boiler looked at and they find the smallest excuse not to repair. The chap they sent out came up with all kind of excuses not to repair. I have now left co op and found myself another insurance company that will listen. Amazing isn鈥檛 it co op you say no and another insurance company says yes.

My car broke down last night. The recovery team never even looked at my car. They just asked where i wanted the car to be delivered. Today when i phoned the insurance. I was told the recovery team were supposed to take the car to the garage and fix it. And they were supposed to arrange a curtesy car.
I'm paying every month for the services I'm not receiving. When I called the recovery team they didn't even want to discuss it they actually told me to launch a complaint.
I feel disgusting and disappointed with the service. I received . Maybe because of my colour I was treated this way.

I have been a loyal customer of Co-op motor insurance for ten years.I tolerated annual policy increases.I even saved them a large amount of money by attending court when a rogue driver attempted to make a fraudulent claim.I left them today as I found a cheaper policy online and saved approximately 拢120.
Were they even bothered that a loyal customer has left,Not A Bit.

I couldn鈥檛 speak highly enough of the service received from co-op pet insurance. We have had to put two sizeable claims in for our little puppy and without questions asked co-op have paid out. We will more than likely continue with the policy with the understanding that our premiums will increase! Highly recommend

This insurance company is an absolute scam! Do not insure your car with them! I took out insurance with them and then I was stopped over by the police about 3 months later saying the database says my car is not insured!! When I complained they did nothing about it. I didn鈥檛 get any of the money back for the months that I wasn鈥檛 insured. I thought this only happened to me until I went online and found out that the same thing has happened to many people! Terrible, disgusting and fraudulent company.

It is actually Royal London which is not made clear until after you sign up. If a direct debit misses, they will not try again but they will send a letter. If you email them they have this really silly system where you have to mess about for half an hour trying to decrypt it but it just doesn't work with Safari or Opera and it should have been a really simple yes/no reply. Co-op is just another 20th century, legacy, backwards company that cannot cater for millenial's needs. Cancelled.

I was given to understand from Dill at the Co-op that a digital visit would be enough so you can imagine my surprise when Firdos O'Donnel called and said she was trying to arrange a physical visit acting on your orders.

When I mentioned the digital option she sent me a link to download an App called Visual Support for Business which I did – I do hope I haven't been charged for this. Half an hour later another Sedgwick employee called and said can she send someone for a physical visit tomorrow? looks like there's is no joined-up thinking going on here?

Dill also mentioned that we could stay elsewhere and have our cats homed in a cattery for this physical visit – I also assume that includes a thorough anti-bacterial clean after the visit from a professional company?

Finally tried to call Dill back on his direct line and surprise couldn't get through and no option to leave a message.
As this all seems to be taking up rather a lot of my time project managing this I am thinking of appointing a loss assessor.

Husband is beginning to get a bit fragrant due to inability to get into bath now we don't have a shower……Ewwwww

Id give them -5 and Id Personally fight every single one of them if I have the chance. The sneaky little people cancelled my insurance from with immediate effect didn鈥檛 even give me enough time to look for another company.
I strictly advise not to buy their product whatsoever even if last option available.
Totally disgusting Insurance company as well as totally disgusting food shops.
Their are whole existence is a mistake.
I wish they bankrupt this very day!

Really friendly staff! Never have I had a nasty or miserable member of staff on the phone. Able to change policy easily and will always find ways to help out. Had an accident last year that wasn鈥檛 my fault and they did all they could to help. Cheap insurance, cheapest I鈥檝e found! I have anxiety at the thought of going with any other company! Lol

They are scammers. They scammed me on 7th July 2018 when I moved from RIAZ insurance to Co-op for cheaper quote. Co-op accepted payment and sold me a policy which they cancelled later. I was on holidays when they sent cancellation letter on 18 Aug 2018. When I came back and with the trust that I had my car insurance I drove my car to patrol station and that's where I was stopped by police who informed I don't have my insurance. It was surprise for me. Police took control of my car and demanded paperwork to release my car. To cut the story short I came back home and checked, a letter was posted to me on 18.08.18 that my policy is cancelled as I failed to disclose non fault incident which was registered on Co-op database in July 2015 whereby a bicycle hit my car at the back. Co-op argued that their agent ECO/BISL Ltd. have put that incident on database and we have found now that you failed to disclose that in response to question that "in last five years have you ever had accident, claim or fault involving motor vehicle (including cars, motorbikes)" . I challenged Co-op that firstly it was voluntarily non fault incident reporting from myself but not as a claim as no claim was ever made by third party or myself. Secondly the question was posed by GoCompare website about motor vehicles not about bicycle person. Thirdly if BISL put that incident in 2015 on database I was with RIAZ insurance for three years until July 2018 and never had problem. Why now when I moved with co-op? Actually I was punished by Co-op because in 2015 I initially moved from Co-op to RIAZ because of higher quote from Co-op. When I moved back from RIAZ to Co-op in 2018, likewise every customer who is looking for cheap quotes, I was punished. I submitted complaint to Co-op but instead of giving me relief I received a standard response as your complaint unfounded and advised me to discuss your matter with agent ECO insurance/BISL. I Instead of pursuing it further to FOS, I left the battle unfinished and moved to Direct line, to whom I have to pay higher insurance to recover my car from recovery yard. I thought it will be an end of my misery when I signed up with Direct line but still its not. I have to pay for car recovery, a fine to police and Every time at my Renewal I am still effected by Co-op's illegal action to pay higher premium. Now I have been advised I can still take my matter back to Co-op and further to FOS under special circumstances due to suffering a financial damage of their mistake. Lets see what Co-op will do for me and I shall come back to this forum again.

I put a claim in for my house that was broken into in February 2020 and they have refused to to pay the claim. Even though I provided bank statement of passport paid for after the break in as passport was stolen as well as many other goods. I had no receipts for Jewelleries that were stolen.

They have done everything to avoid paying the claim and i have been with them for over 15 years.
Please avoid coop insurance, not the coop insurance they use to be .

Avoid Coop Insurance.

So mixed but frustrating experience. Made a small claim last year which was handled efficiently however I just wanted to log on to downoad a copy of our policy. Cant do that. Finally got hold of someone and they cant even email it to me and has to be posted. Apparently it will take 10 days!. This is the 21st century Co Op! Your competitors can do it

Prices look good and initial paperwork all good, but be wary when you want to make a claim. The are unable to answer or provide information or investigate fully for you. They send you of to another department that are about as helpful as the first. I do not have much confidence with them that they can handle the speed required to deliver a successful claim, if they were allowed to handle it, unless it was straight forward.

They are slow communicators – it takes months for them to respond to emails, for third company claims.
Very incompetent.

Don鈥檛 bother with co op eco car insurance. I had additional money taken from my account without my authorisation a few weeks after taking out the initial policy. I had no email, no letter and no text informing me that they were taking the money. I only found out because I checked my bank statement. But by then it was too late to go back to my previous car insurer since 28 days had passed and the quote was no longer valid. What a mess!

We have rain water leaking from the roof into son's bedroom. Bed is soaked, water all over the floor, ceiling and wall dripping and damp and damp smell.

Have Coop home insurance and HomeRescue Plus.

HomeRescue Plus said they don't cover it as they exclude roof. Even though water is dripping into a childs bedroom – they won't cover it as coming via roof, not much of a rescue!
Phoned the normal insurance team, they can only get someone in to survey (not fix) in 5 days times. Lots of rain expected in next 5 days so damaged will get a lot worse.
We offered to get our own builder to fix problem in roof, they said they won't cover us at all if we get a builder to fix. Crazy.

So in summary – water leaking into child's bedroom is not emergency and if we fix ourselves to limit the damage then the normal insurance will no longer cover. Terrible service. Cooperative insurance is not insuring and not very cooperative!

My daughter went through confused.com, found her policy with Co-op, this started on 5th Aug 2020. On the 12th Aug they fitted her black box. It stated there were no curfews which was ideal because she works as a chef (late nights). After driving hone from work once, her black score dropped from 87 to 18 because she drove after 11pm! they then informed us that she shouldn't be driving after 11pm as she will be penalised… apperently this isnt a curfew as she is actually allowed to drive!!! once i questioned this and explained that this wasnt what they had said they decided to cancel her policy saying she hadnt told them about an accident that she had had…. which she had- you would be daft not to as its all on the same database nationwide….. absolutely fuming, poor customer service… stay away!!!!

I have been with the Coop for about 45 years. They may not always have been the cheapest, but in general my experiences have been good. I have my house, car(s) and travel with them.
I am in the process of changing my car and rang to change over. They declined, and they have written to me to tell me this is not a refusal!
So why have they declined. "Modifications" are being done to the car. New engine? No! Gold leaf paint job? No!
I am buying a used car from a Volvo main dealer, and they are fitting Pilot Assist (Adaptive speed control) and tinted rear windows. These were on my old car, and its possible that they were fitted post factory. So the Coop cannot accept post factory modifications because in their experience they "might cost more to repair if there is a claim!!!"
So standard Volvo extras fitted by a main dealer are to be excluded. Both modifications are likely to reduce the Coop's risk. If I sell the car, a new owner could easily insure the car with the Coop since he is not modifying the car and will assume the car is per the original factory spec.

Bought car insurance from them. Insurance started 24 May 2020, I鈥檝e sent no claim bonus letter on 26 May 2020. I received letter in June possibly 1st June 2020 saying that they haven鈥檛 received letter for no claim bonus than I rang their customer service to check it, customer service confirm that they have received no claim bonus email and not to worry and the department is responsible for checking no claim bonus may have sent letter before checking my email. Than again 9 June 2020 they sent another letter saying that they haven鈥檛 received no claim bonus letter then I rang their customer service again and they assured me again and said not to worry, they have no claim bonus email. In both phone calls to customer service I was given clear impression that it just need formal approval from certain department, even though the document is fine. I have trusted their customer service. About a week ago I received letter which increased the price of insurance policy 拢545.03 to over 拢1000.
I rang customer service for explanation, they said, no claim bonus was not accepted because it was earned with a taxi vehicle. I said, your colleague has checked it and said it鈥檚 ok. Customer service replied they can鈥檛 check it. I said, then your colleague lied to me. if don鈥檛 accept it, why didn鈥檛 you tell me before? Is it reasonable to take over one month to decide? I asked them cancel my insurance, they have agreed and cancel my policy on 29 June 2020. My vehicle was insured by them for 37 days, Customer service also agreed that there will be a refund but another department will calculate this and let me know how much refund I should get. Today 4 July 2020 I received letter saying there won鈥檛 be any refund because I have cancelled.
My calculation of policy:
365 days insurance cost me 拢545.03
1 day insurance cost 拢545.03梅365
37 days insurance cost 545.03梅365×37=拢55.25 approximately.
Co-op took 拢140.90 from me.
Co-op Should give me refund of approximately 拢140.90-55.25=拢85.65
I am now insured with another insurance provider for 拢405 and they happily gave me discount. I don鈥檛 want to advertise but if anyone wants to know please ask me.
AVOID Co-op, save from dishonest liars save money, save from stress, save time.
