I'm a student at Connections Academy, and let me tell you, it is hell. It's like they purposefully tried to find as many ways to make school as difficult and as horrible as possible. The teachers sometimes force you to attend LiveLessons to find out how to do an assignment (even though they could have easily just provided the instructions via. The website itself instead), some of the lessons take a very long time to complete (sometimes, it can take 3+ hours for one lesson, especially in classes such as physics), the lessons are always filled with so much information that it discourages students from actually reading the lessons, the teachers are very strict about assignments, the courses move way too fast, etc. If it weren't for the pandemic, I would absolutely switch to public school right now. They took learning, what is supposed to be a simple concept, into something way more complicated than it should be.

If I have to attend one more year at this dumpster fire of a school, I'm dropping out. This is probably the worst school system I have ever seen. If you are a parent, and you have other options, please, for the love of God, STAY AWAY FROM CONNECTIONS!

So i usually go to public school but this year i had to do online school, when i was enrolled into the school i enrolled kinda late by like a week and i had to make up 23 ASSIGNMENTS and don't mention that the teachers never answer there calls even if u make a appointment and they give us WAY to much UNNECESSARY work making us spend all day on a computer and never having any free time id say i spend about 10 hours on hw than i did in public school…

My daughters went here for a year and it was the worst thing we did. The tech system is old and clunky and your kid ends up doing WAY more hours than is needed. Additionally they just messed me around for a month and cost my kids an entire month of education – where they could end up being held back from CA mistakes!

I am not sure how anyone considers this an education鈥斺€?maybe an hour of live lesson per week per subject. They lie and misrepresent what they actually offer. Shameful鈥? I don't know how the department of Ed has not shut them down

We enrolled our 6th and 7th grader for the 2020-2021 year. Customer service signing up was a huge challenge due to demand, I have close to 30 hours into a straight forward enrollment and over 6 hours of cumulative time on hold. Instruction is extremely fragmented. My online bachelors degree program was easier to navigate and locate information on. The curriculum doesn't necessarily follow the teachers instruction and students need to read the assignment in the lesson then sometimes refer to a bulletin board or email to get the final instructions which sometimes conflicts with the lesson. Students also cannot fill out lesson templates online, they need to download and save them, then attach or upload the completed version to their teacher. Sometimes they attach and sometimes upload, this depends on the teacher and leads to failed assignments because of upload or submission errors. My kids have been very discouraged these first weeks. So far the teachers have been good at getting these errors sorted out but this has taken hours of extra time. Some teachers use Microsoft products some use Google, there is no consistency and you must use your own accounts as there are no linked accounts to the school. On average I am receiving 10-12 emails per day, and the information from teachers and admin is fragmented. I spend about 2 hours a day in emails and review and we have hired a tutor to help out 5 hours day to assist them in navigating the software. There is virtually no interaction or instruction with the teachers. Most of the lessons are recorded and students cannot interact or ask questions. Communication is primarily through email which is ineffective. The platform is just a mess, it is like trying to work with Windows 95 in modern day. The supporting tech is at least 5-7 years behind the UI and integration you might expect in modern software. I strongly suggest you go elsewhere.

If you are considering this school DONT WASTE YOUR TIME! They kept kicking back our paperwork to register, leaving my 9 year old in limbo with starting svhool on time! Then when I call they leave you on hold for over an hour with no one answering after you get transferred to another department for NO ONE TO ANSWER. They just kept giving us the run around! If I could give this school a negative stars I would! DONT WASTE YOUR TIME!

When it comes to a student that is in need of Special Ed services, this is the worst school for them to attend. My son's Special Ed teacher, Ms. Brandon, was impossible to reach, whether it be voicemail, email, or text. When she did reach out she proved to be extremely disorganized. I explained multiple times that my son was placed in the wrong classes preventing from catching in reading, writing and spelling. She continued to ignore me. I reported the continuous issue to Ms. Noto, the principal, still with no success. We never did hear from the speech therapist that was appointed to my son nor do we know the therapist's name. I even informed the director of Special Ed who also ignored my concerns. My son attended that joke of a school for over a month until I couldn't take the negligence and incompetence any longer. Arizona Connections Academy is a joke and an embarrassment to this State's educational system. I'm seeking council from Arizona Center for Disability Law due to the advice from a considerable amount of people who know about the freak show that Connections Academy has put me through. It's absolutely disgusting what they did to an innocent 9 yr old little boy. They had him so stressed out and in tears.

It is 2 business days from the start of 2020 school year for my daughter and she still isn't enrolled. I have been submitting documents for 3 months and they either state there is an issue with the document or they end up not being processed by the enrollment dept. So far, today I have been on the phone with them for 50 minutes. The rep on the phone doesn't see why she shouldn't have been enrolled yet because she says all documentation appears to be correct. So I'm being transferred for the 3rd time to someone else. It is literally 2 business days away from the start of school and no one has called me to place my daughter in her classes or help us with this. I am very worried that we will not have her enrolled by the time school starts (even though this process started 3 months ago!). If by the end of this call we have not resolved the enrollment nightmare, I will be deleting her account and trying another online school. Hopefully I will be able to enroll her in another school in 2 business days. This company has completely wasted 3 months of my time, but I feel like I might have dodged a bullet. If it's this hard to enroll her, I can't imagine the problems we will have when we start trying to download completed lessons, etc.

This school is unbelievably disgusting. They pile assessments onto you and don't even help you. The teachers are rude and unhelpful. They fail you without hesitation and with no reason. They also put you in "alarm" because there has been no contact between the student and the teacher, they put me in alarm because I wasn't working for 25 hours each week. Overall, this school is terrible and not at all, in any way, a school.

Thank you for your time. 🙂

I registered my son during the pandemic. The teachers don't want to offer any help or answer any questions you may have. You are told you are a coach and, not the teacher, that is not true. You teach the kids, not the teacher. If you do have any questions the teachers will send you a link and that is it. They have live lessons. I have attended more than one live lesson. The live lessons are required, but taech nothing. Save yourself the time and effort and go elsewhere. I gave 1 star, but trust me the school does not even deserve the 1 star.

This is my first year with VL and i have to say CA is a very organized, high standard curriculum and very good communication with the teachers and staff. Everyone is very hands on to be a virtual school

Each teacher has their own way of submitting work. It's very confusing. Daughter is failing PE already. Takes 9 to 10 hrs a day of work most is technical issues I need to help and try to understand how to upload things for children. Will be complaining soon to dept of education.
Seems it would be better to homeschool and develop own curriculum.

It's been a site for homeschooling for how long? Yet it's complete $#*!. It's even more stressful than public school for me, and i have major anxiety so that says a lot. Everything's way harder online, and some of their damn links for the lessons don't even $#*!ing work and i'm not gonna be messing up my grades because of their dumbasses.

I had enrolled in our child in June and was told to not worry about the lengthy time to process the enrollment as the California schools would not start until September. Calling just about every week to learn of the status, I had been told over and over to not worry and that they currently don't have a cap on student enrollment. Waiting for tall the documents took forever, as they informed me that they had an influx of new enrollments but did not have a lot of staff at the time. Here is an idea, HIRE MORE! None the less, the school year started is fast approaching, still no word from them, in August, TWO months after the start of my enrollment process, I get an email that we will have to be put on a waitlist, What the heck?! They said that they reach capacity and now we are put on a waitlist. There is little communication, even when you have the chance to get in, and then they tell you that everything will be okay and then slam you with the fact that you have to now wait. As a result, I had to enroll him in another online school.

I've uploaded paperwork to them multiple times & somehow it's been lost. How? When I call there is always a 20-30 min wait. They have enrollment tasks divided into small portions and the people who answer the phones can't see the documents or answer questions. So, you end up waiting to speak to individual teams. They can answer only one part of the question & then transfer you to someone else. Seriously? If it weren't for covid, I'd switch to another online provider bc their enrollment system is a complete and utter mess. I'm very scared that the when we attempt to upload school work, it will be lost and that the education is going to be sub-par, confused, and just as much of a nightmare.

I pulled my Daughter from public High School in 2016 (personal issues within the family) I then enrolled her in Texas Connections Academy your child needs to be self motivated for sure she was 16 and with cap and gown walked with other Connections Academy students to get her Diploma. The Teachers are the Best they connect with your child more and you seem to have more access to them. I highly recommend especially now with Cov 19. If your child is self motivated and wants to learn. This is the school for you

We decided to have my son attend Connections Academy his junior year for the flexible schedule. My son up to that point had a 4.0 GPA. At the end of the first semester my son had earned all A's but his GPA dropped since grades of 90-92 are considered an A- at Connections and is not awarded the full 4 points toward the GPA. Could not recover the lost points and ruined a few scholarship opportunities. We transferred out his senior year so not to be penalized further.

Where do i even begin. I finished 7th grade in this school about a month ago, and i passed. But guess what? My mother got and email saying something along the lines of "we have decided to put you son in academic probation for the first month of school due to lack of participation". Why tf would you pass me with no problem just to ruin the second half of my summer? Also, what ever happened to my test scores? Sure i missed some live lessons and assignment but i outstood almost every one of my classmates in every single large test (bench marks, and state testing) plus i only had some "lack of participation" in the last 1 or 2 quarters.

Best school. I have 3 kids that attend here one is M.R. and online schooling was the best choice I made. Some of the others where to much and wasn't available to help him. Connection academy has always encouraged him to work at his level. They call or do face time with him to help him in any way they can. They also supply everything you need to teach your kids. We love it and the staff there…

I was one of those kids that didn't pay attention in school, didn't do homework and just hated school. I needed more help than most kids and never got it from school. That was untill Connections Academy! They got me the help I needed. Everytime I had a problem I easily called and got help. All the teachers were nice unlike the public school I went to. I had the mind set once I reached 16 years old I was going to drop out. Then my mother signed me up here and that thought changed. I finished school, graduated in "2012", which honestly never thought I would do and VERY grateful for them because A LOT of jobs want a high school diploma or G.E.D.
Thank You All at Connections Academy!

Connections Academy is the best online school choice. I have been a learning coach with Connections Academy for 5 years and my children absolutely love it. All the same joys of public school in the comforts of your own home. Easy to navigate website, extremely helpful staff and teachers. This program has wonderful tools and tips for parents and children to make learning fun and easy. I truly recommend Connections Academy to any family who is looking for online learning as a schooling option. My family and I are looking forward to many more years of learning fun with Connections Academy.

I have done every assignment. The tests have nothing to do with the material. The teachers are no help. You ask them a question and they answer with something that's not even relevant. I highly recommend you choose Success Virtual, very straight forward and efficient. I would give them a 10 if I could.

In my honest opinion, you can be on track and get good grades. Unfortunately, due to a lot of circumstances and with my own slip ups, I didn't strive or have motivation to care. With that said, it's best to ask your teachers for help, I know things may be different for others and they may not have the same teachers personality wise of course. I was lucky enough to get caring teachers who were concerned and wanted me to do my best.Take the time to know your way through your home tab, and thoroughly remember and exercise your way through certain tabs. I don't advise you to enter this school unless you're going to be very self disciplined and have patience. Not gonna lie it was frustrating to navigate my way through a lot of work, but I took apart my work piece by piece and got it done. But, to cut the story short, ask any of the administrators or other higher ups for help or take the time to try to teach yourself. Please don't give up, because if you do, you're going to drown in a lot of late work quick. If anything to going on tell your teachers more specifically call them if you can, so you can either get extra time on work or get excused, other than that, good luck.

I was a student here for the 8th grade and I hated it. They say you have a free schedule and can adapt it, no you cannot. You need to wake up at 9am to go online, login and go sit through an hour long laggy mess of a live lesson where the teacher does a poor job, or examine what you already know. There are usually 3 lessons a day or more. If you are behind and dont understand the lessons because of that, you still need to attend. When I was enrolled, it wasnt late, but it was when school began already, and I was behind by around 30 or 40 assignments. We received many phone calls about it asking why it was so high and we said we were enrolled late we guess, but they act like it's all of the students fault and they deserve this as a punishment. And god forbid you let your counselor see you were gone two days because of illness or personal stuff. They freak tf out and your assignments rise up and make you feel anxious because the numbers are high and scary. It was torture. DO NOT ATTEND UNLESS YOU DO 7 HRS OF WORK A DAY AND NOTHING BUT. DO NOT ENROLL PAST THE START DATE OR YOU DUG AN EARLY GRAVE. I felt so alone and that everything was my fault. It's bad and I hope this helps. Oh and its layout is so bland and not inviting, it is not inspiring at all, just a wall of text.
