Countdown

Poor service, product quality and availability. I especially recommend avoiding the baby cos 'bunch' this week (September 23, 2020), as the single cos provided is tiny and old (packed 19/9/20), and at $2 a rip off. I've repeatedly asked that the doorbell be rung at delivery, but instead I just keep getting groceries dumped in the doorway and a text stating I wasn't home: interesting since I work from home and have never been out during a delivery; not ideal for my frozen and refrigerated items, as sometimes I miss the text during a work call…

18 September 2020: What is up with the COUNTDOWN STAFF in Auckland? Not all but many are just cold and rude. Not just when you're asking for help but also when you acknowledge them or thank them, they often just ignore you. What kind of service is that? Today, just before 9:30 am, at COUNTDOWN VICTORIA ST WEST I thanked a female staff member working at the checkout machines and she didn't even look my way. This is not the first time this has happened.

Beyond shocking service sadly, ordered online for delivery. All accepted, withdrew my money and nothing was delivered. Contacted countdown and they lied to me saying they dont deliver to my area ( I know it's a load of crock ) ended up having to take time off work to travel an hour to get my groceries. Countless emails and little responses. Deff wouldn't shop through them again

Today, a staff (man) at the Katikati Countdown is extremely rude and behaved aggressively when I asked him the second time to check the price at the system that was not discounted as it showed on the shelves. This staff is lack of basic customer service skills, I'm still shocked by how bad it is…..

I understand how busy you are. However, Do not trough away stuff especially, fresh fruits and vegetables on the counter table after scanning(after scanning for payment , you don鈥檛 care about damage on it anymore??). customers do not want to pay for them. This was terrible experience from countdown in Dunedin city center today.

Was waiting for our alcohol purchase at Te Rapa to be okayed, and the lady whose job it was decided to stop and talk to people who were already being served. So we waited for her to finish her private conversation, as did the customers behind us, and the checkout operator. When she did arrive, she said nothing, pressed one button and walked back to the same people and carried on talking. Our time is important too!

Dargaville
Wish they would decide whether they will pack or not
At the moment some of the cashiers push the goods down the chute and you try to pack your bags quickly and carefully so you don鈥檛 squash your stuff before they start pushing the following customers goods down
Why don鈥檛 they sort out a system like pacnsave and maybe reduce prices the same as pacnsave

Countdown Ferrymead consistantly label products at a certain price (special offers) then charge the full price when the teller scans the product. This has happened several times to me personally over many months, and despite telling the floor manager, the next time I buy that same special offer product, it comes up as a full price charged amount. [ This latest "fraud" is of a product of Cranberry Granola – original price was $5.50, now special offer marked at $3.80. The granola (different ingredient combinations are also on offer) is on a special end of aisle stand. I realised the first time that I bought it that I had been incorrectly charged (told the manager) but the second time I bought it (10/06/20) I only realised when I checked my receipt at home.
I have now decided to try New World in Woolston. Maybe they are more truthful in their business dealings.

It鈥檚 been 4 weeks since I applied for a delivery service (Nelson) as I am over 70. They have not even replied to me yet saying they are too busy. I subsequently applied to Fresh Choice (10 days ago) and am getting my first delivery on Friday. Countdown Nelson sucks!

Today, both myself and my wife (both > 35) bought a number of items from countdown lower hutt and we also bought a bottle of beer.

They asked for proof of ID, and I showed my Drivers license and the checkout operator also insisted on seeing my wife's ID, which she did not have at the moment. So they refused to give us the beer. Does this mean the entire family should show proof of ID when purchasing a bottle of beer ? We were polite and paid the bill and walked out. That aside, we both came out of the shop and I went on my own inside again and got the same bottle of beer and tried to do a self checkout, at this point, another supermarket checkout person came and told me that I cannot buy it even though I have the ID because I was declined once earlier. I was horrified by this, and cannot understand why I cannot buy even though I have the ID. I understand covid-19 has been hard on the staff, but don't take it on regular customers who have been shopping at your store for more than 5 years, mainly when they are not in the wrong.

I too wish I could give no stars as this countdown in Papakura (by train and police stations) does not deserve it. The staff are great but whoever makes the decisions, seriously needs retraining /retirement. Last week I brought a container of grapes that had hidden cunningly in amongst them were these dried, almost raisined grapes, some with mould. But silly me brought another pack of them a few days later after looking as best I could so as not to be fooled again. But fooled I was. I really should of known better as this is the worst run Countdown I have ever been in. I have not had to return items elsewhere but this place takes the cake, that is a dry inedible one

ESSENTIAL Customers should be able to be prioritised any time of the day or night instead Countdown only allows Essential workers to shop at 8-9am daily. That may be nice for people who don't work but most front line Essential Health Care workers work shifts, shifts normally finish at 7.30am, 3.30pm, 11.30pm etc.
Countdown times are ridiculous. Many Essential workers are actually working at the time they state, now many I know are shopping at Pak n Save, who actually prioritise Essential workers immediately. Thank You PaknSave !! Goodbye CountDown Stores!!!

Your pies are dried up and poor quality. Don't sell if they're ready for the rubbish.

I want to say a huge huge thank you to the online team in countdown Carlyle. If it wasn't for them I wouldn't have any food / cleaning supplies in my house. We are unable to go out at all as we have been tested positive for the covid 19. These girls and guys have been totally amazing. The amount of pressure they are put under to supply everyone's shopping. I want to mention Niki by name she has done my orders they have been fantastic with a nice note as well. You guys really don't know how much this means. Please when the public are told to be kind to them be kind and be respectful they are doing a fantastic job.

New Plymouth Central, today in covid isolation.
Disinfectant and paper towels at trolley station, with appropriate signage.
Well stocked isles, not very busy, couple of checkouts staffed with friendly staff.
Very safe shopping experience. Well done!
Thanks.

Otaki Countdown – so dingy and cramped it makes Pak n Save look glamorous. Very small selection of just about everything except packaged bread and wine. Produce frequently looks like it's on its last legs. No in-house bakery or deli. If something is on special, it has probably sold out with no more stock expected until… well, no one can give you an answer on that and staff don't care to check out the back, unlike their nearby competitors. Only positive is Countown's reward programme.

Best news to hear that Countdown is stopping people bulk buy. Other supermarket's should follow.

Countdown Lambton Quay branch. Bought several items totaling less than $40 at lunchtime today. But the checkout operator made me split the EFTPOS payments. So she scanned several items, had me pay for them by EFTPOS. Then scanned the other items and made me pay again. Then tried to get me to make a third EFTPOS payment for the carry bag I was buying (I refused and just left at that point).
This was very very bizarre behaviour. The only thing I can think of is that they are trying to artificially inflate customer statistics in that particular store.
I strongly avoid going to this branch. I don't know what game they are pulling, but I don't want to incur extra transaction fees to help them with their shenanigans.

I think 1 star is too many stars for their delivery service. It was meant to be delivered between 10am-1230, but didn't show so I rang at 1pm and they said they were running behind and said it would arrive before 3pm, but it didn't arrive then neither. It arrived at 4:30pm.

The fact that I have to be home to accept the goods as I need to ID to accept the goods as per their policy, my ENTIRE day's plans we're ruined. It costed more of my money to stay at home waiting for them than what I would have earned. There was zero communication from them to warn me in advance about being late.

Don't run a business you can't run properly. I'll take business somewhere else.

One of the few Countdowns that hasn't succumbed to DIY autotellers, I can only hope it continues to avoid the push to "upgrade" and replace people with robots. I deliberately avoid the other Countdowns and shop here as it is better serviced and the wait time is generally much shorter.

As a whole, the staff are generally great, with some having worked there for years.

Shopping at our local Dargaville Countdown is an experience I dread. If there were any other local supermarkets I'd shop there, but it's the only one and they know it. The attitude of some of the staff who supervise the self-service checkout is deplorable. They come across as having some sort of delusion of self-important superiority, behaving like prison guards, not customer service representatives. I've never experienced this in any other supermarket or for that matter, shop, anywhere. Creepily hovering behind you as you check out your items even though they of course have cameras. Just weird.

Even I don鈥檛 want give a star for poor quality customer service at Mt Eden countdown Deli. Horrible customer service with two or three specific ladies. Just rude and extremely unfriendly and make me feel super uncomfortable. I prefer go to pakn save or new world for the better customer service.
