Purchased a used Mercedes Vito Engine from here, Was informed that the engine was in good condition but that one injector seal had blown. Asked the guy if there was any indication the head gasket had blown, since he had mentioned that the blown injector seal was causing the engine to make a 'chuffing' sound. Was told no. When I got the engine back to my workshop to first replace the seal on the one injector, discovered that all 4 injectors had been leaking for years, the entire surface area of the cam cover was caked in black tarry deposits (combustion products and diesel.) I did contact the seller at this point but had no response. Finally when I had replaced all the injector seals and installed the engine, I discovered that the head gasket was blown. I returned to this seller (finegates001 on ebay) since he had previously sold a perfectly sound vito engine to me two years earlier.
