Journey Brussels – Frankfurt – Vienna on 30 September 2019:
(1) Why was the departure time of train ICE 27 in Frankfurt 1/2 hour earlier than announced? We almost missed our connection!!!
(2) I had a electronic train ticket, i.e. Deutsche Bahn did know my email address. Why the hell wasn't I informed about the change of the departure time???
(3) On the train Frankfurt to Vienna, several (!) passengers had to travel with their bottoms on the floor because not enough seats were available.
Return journey Vienna-Frankfurt-Brussels on 6 October 2019:
(4) On the ICE 26 train Vienna to Frankfurt, several (!) passengers had to travel with their bottoms on the floor because not enough seats were available.
(5) In our railroad carriage #26, both (!) toilets were out of order.
(6) Because of "Kupplungsprobleme" during stops in two (!) different stations, we had an 1-hour delay.
(7) I had to insist before the train controller was willing to inform us about our connection in Frankfurt.
(8) She made a broadcast announcement: Passengers traveling to Brussels had to remain on the train until Frankfurt Airport; there the train to Brussels would be waiting for us on a track on the same platform. However, no such train waiting for us in Frankfurt Airport!!!
(9) The train controller of another ICE train was unwilling/incapable to explain us in English how we could reach our final destination (Brussels).
We had to wait 1 hour for the next train to Brussels. We arrived at home 2 hours later than expected.
P眉nktlichkeit and customer service? It's a joke!!!

Conclusion ( February 2020):

OK. I had to complain to Richard Lutz, CEO at Deutsche Bahn, AND to the Belgian Rail Ombudsman, but eventually, i.e. on 11 February 2020, Deutsche Bahn paid me a compensation of 鈧?128,90.
That compensation was for the 140 min-delay during the return journey.
FOR ALL OTHER NUISANCES THERE WAS NO COMPENSATION AT ALL.

The S1 is very confusing to figure out: how was I supposed to know that the train splits in 2 and only half goes to the airport. Because of this had to run to the right half, but the engineer couldn't wait for me, 10 more seconds: I was pushing the open door button, only to see the train move away. I like many things about DB, but, while waiting here on the platform, getting late for my flight, I "mustered" the time to consider this as star service.
