I was blatantly lied to and unnecessarily called several times a day regarding the same thing for weeks, this company threatened me and I was trying my best to help. It seems ridiculous in a review, but this company almost gave me a nervous break down, I have never been so bullied in my life. Avoid at all costs, this isn鈥檛 an insurance company, it is a scam.

Will do everything to avoid paying you for a being crashed into. If I could give less than 1 star I would. Hard to get hold of and unhelpful when you do. Not a good company

Worst ever insurance company in the world. Staff have no idea or clue what they are doing or saying. They just make up stories and take months for claims to be settled.
They out to rob the public and make money and don't care about customers.

Please be wary, conmen to say the very least, policy is not worth the paper its written on, company policy conflicts with your actual insurance policy, if no joy with them tomorrow, will be speaking to any no win no fee solicitor interested and hopefully open a can of worms for other miss sold policy holders

On the 12th September 2017, a car, a black VW Passat, drove off a car dealer's forecourt straight into the front of my car. It was a slow speed one as I managed to brake hard. The other car was driven away without stopping and I could not get the registration number. The car dealer was selling the car on behalf of the owner who had decided to take it back without paying advertising and sales fees. He gave me the owner's phone number. The owner/driver denied everything and refused to come back to the scene. 2 hours later after contact with the police, the owner turned up at the scene in a black BMW and said there was no accident saying show him the damage to his car. Yes this really happened.
Despite the car dealer, myself, an independent garage mechanic and my Dashcam footage, he maintained it was not him or his car. He did give his name and address after some 'persuasion'. He refused to say who his insurer was even though the police confirmed he was insured.
So I contact my broker who passed it on to ERS. Absolutely hopeless even though I sent them the dashcam footage with witness details. I had to get involved with the repair garage and ERS to get the invoice paid. A very protracted dispute arose between the 2 insurance companies, his was Privilege/UK Insurance, and ERS took UK Insurance to court and judgement awarded in our favour. UK refused to pay so sheriffs were involved – July 2018.
I was never kept updated or informed at any stage and getting info was a joke as I had to relay the story every time. Eventually after nearly a year I made a formal complaint against ERS who apologised and refunded my 拢250 excess plus 拢150 compensation. So that is the end of the matter?
No.
It is April 2020 and I am arranging insurance for my car. I am told by one company that the claim was still outstanding! Despite his insurer paying out and accepting liability it seems the claim cannot be closed as the driver disputes it. So I have contacted ERS and have received the usual response. Nothing.
This level of service is worse than the bad old days of the 1990s when MFI were kings of customer dissatisfaction.

Words simply cannot explain or describe the depth of horrific experience that I've had with thus 'company'. I ended up paying for an accident that I did not commit, even after begging them to have an engineer inspection done and I was advised that everything is OK that is not necessary. I ended up trying to figure things out on my own because after contacting their office one of their employee thought he hung up the phone but he didn't and so I was listening in on the conversation they were having afterwards. You do not want me to go in details about the things I heard about myself! no one should hear that. They said they just wasted their life talking to me a long with some unspeakable things. To add to this when I made a complaint an offer of 拢150 or so was offer I reckon to keep quiet but they could not do anything to resolve the pending matter. Someone made a fictitious claim against me with zero evidence and could even change his statement to benefit him and later on hit the jackpot. I did not even know that they made payments until I was renewing my insurance with a different company and was told about my no claim bonus. This is the first time I am writing a negative review about anything online because I believe in 'if you do not have anything good to say then don't say anything'. However, this is not a review, it is a WARNING to stay far from this company, I would not want my worst enemy to endure the heights of daily anxiety that I experienced with this company.

I have a minibus insured with ERS I had the misfortune to have had a tyre blow out last year fully loaded with elderly people on the M5, my insurance package includes onward travel they were unable to find anyone to collect my passengers they were on the hard shoulder for over an hour and a quarter and then I managed to arrange a coach to take them to their destination.. I was told a tyre would not be changed on the hard shoulder and that I had to wait for a flat bed truck to recover my vehicle. Highways Agency spoke to them and told them it was nearside wheel I had a spare a speed limit of 40 had been set by matrix signs and they were prepared to close lane one. But no I had to wait 2.5 hours when a guy turned up in a van I asked him where the lorry was, he said you have a nearside tyre need replacing and you have a spare I can do it here. After all the waiting. Then this weekend had a cracked windscreen and was told the replacement glass companies don't work weekends. What is the point of paying for these additional services when in the time of need they are not available.

My vehicle was involved in an RTA on 03 February. Although it is a fault claim and an usual one at that, they have dash cam footage of this incident, they are still dragging there heels over this. I鈥檝e
been waiting for this insurance company for over 4 weeks now for there engineers to allow my garage to commence repairs. After many phone calls to them, as of yet, I still don鈥檛 know when they will allow my garage to proceed. If your thinking of insuring your vehicle with them, I鈥檇 give them a wide berth.

Shockingly bad. After a month of phone calls, during which time ERS repeatedly got even the most basic facts wrong and ignored emails completely, they have finally agreed to pay for the van but now they are refusing to pay for the full value due to an apparent and very obvious 'mistake' on the application. The now say they can only pay 拢2000 maximum for a van with a market value of 拢5500. They have sent an assessor to view the vehicle and they know full well what it is worth.
A disgraceful way to operate.

!UPDATE! ERS have just phoned me to say they will have to review the payment which will take 2-3 days.

Sold my motorhome and called my broker to cancel insurance which was underwritten by ERS. 9 months left on the policy and total refusal to refund the balance. Absolutely disgraceful. People buy and sell vehicles all the time and if insured with ERS no one will ever get the time/money outstanding on the policy refunded to them! This can't be right. Don't use this shower!

4 months after one of their drivers hit me, I am still waiting for my car to be returned. They are refusing to give me a courtesy car, refusing to accept that the damage to my vehicle is accident related. The claims handling company they use are beyond a joke and try everything to get out of paying out. Total joke, don't even bother.

I was involved in an accident over 4 months ago and it's still not resolved. Poor communication and very poor customer service. My husband had to call them continuously to try and sort out a pay out as my car was classed as a write off. Luckily I have family who loaned me some money to buy a new car. It took nearly 6 weeks as they tried to offer amounts that were well below what my car was worth. I think is absolutely shocking that they play on customers desperation so they can make a quick buck. What was even more shocking was that there was only one woman who was in charge of organising payouts and she only worked 2 and a half days a week and works hours with no flexibility. My husband had to constantly be on her case to get an answer and find out who was liable for the accident. Even now, at my renewal I found out that my claim is still outstanding due to the 3rd party claiming personal injury. They made out that this will affect trying to renew with another insurer. Adrian flux the broker who recommended this insurance weren't any help either and all they did was blame each other for their poor service. Please avoid this insurer if you can!

Cheap for a reason 30 days and my claim has gone from total loss to repair to no response. Car has had 3 engineer inspections no foul play but still they continue to try and wriggle out of the claim.

Small engine fire extinguised by myself in a car I have owned for less than 6 months and they are trying to prove neglect because the MOT mentions a minor oil leak.

Complaints department hopeless they never get back to you.

Now with Lloyd's and the ombudsman.

This is my 1st Claim in 18 years and I have to say the impact and stress it has introduced I to my life especially dealing with the rude call handlers and the hopeless out of hours team means I hope I never have to deal with them again.

Have paid best part of 拢10k in premiums over last 5 years and all seemed fine until we made what seemed a fairly straightforward claim 2 months ago for a (no-fault) rear-end shunt. I asked my car to be sent to an approved Land Rover garage but they insisted on using their own. The first attempt by their (no doubt cheaper) garage was shockingly bad, ruined the back end of our car with shoddy orange peel paintwork and some weird 鈥渙nly we know how to do it鈥?treatment process that removed the uniform black colour and surface texture from our bumper. We rejected it on the spot and repeated we wanted it to go to a decent garage – but to no avail. Second attempt was better but still not right. They then called out an independent specialist who totally agreed with us (although he was more critical). ERS then indicated they would relent and send car to a LR approved garage then changed their minds and said they were going to give us cash to sort it out. They did have one underwriting lady who was consistently helpful and sympathetic throughout this ordeal (no other words for it) but ultimately all to no avail if they can鈥檛 fix your car properly. I went to them on the understanding they are a 鈥渟pecialist鈥?insurer. They are nothing of the sort.

Had an at-fault total loss accident in my campervan. ERS were great throughout the claims process, the total loss team were compassionate and carefully talked me through what all the options meant for me (retaining the vehicle or scrapping it). When I chose to scrap it the payout was very quick and no quibble on valuation. They even held off from scrapping til I could visit the vehicle to remove some personal items.

Can only speak to my experience but the total loss team at ERS were really great, especially Simon who I spoke to a few times on the phone.

This must be one of the worst and untrustworthy insurance underwriters in existence and should be banned from trading. The trouble is most people don't know they are insured with ERS until it is too late because most of their business is done through agents.
I renewed my classic motorcycle policy which was changed to ERS by my broker Peter James probably because it was cheaper than my previous insurer. After my policy had been running for a month Peter James informed me that ERS were querying a previous accident I had had in my car which wasn't disclosed. I replied 'yes that is correct but I didn't think that was relevant because your wording only referred to motorcycles and riders where as if it was relevant it would have been worded vehicles and rider/drivers.
I apologised and said I was happy to pay any increase in premium if required.
ERS informed me two weeks later that my insurance is void when it started a month ago and my name would be on the national data base as a 'fraudster'.
I recently returned from an enjoyable trip to France and it appears that I have riding uninsured because ERS void my insurance, I hate to think what would have happened if an incident had occurred.
Looking at the other reviews it seems that this is a prime company to be featured on 'Watchdog' and I find it hard to believe that knowing their reputation that any reputable brokers would use them…Well I can because they are cheap.
On delving further it appears that ERS have been on the FCA 'radar' for some time and one of their claims departments has been deregulated. Nuff said !.

Do not use this company.
My wife was not at fault for an accident, ERS had an offer from the 3rd party which was much higher than they were offering my wife. She had to accept the payment but now they wont let her cancel her insurance and says she has to keep paying the 拢75 per month premium as they say they have not received payment from the 3rd party yet. What utter BS…. these are the sort of shysters you'll be dealing with if you choose ERS… makes my blood boil that they can get away with this

I was rather hoping that I wouldn't have to be "one of those people" that writes a review on a company, but at this point the experience hasn't been fantastic. I unfortunately had a claim in November of 2018 with my classic car and to this date, over half a year later, I've no resolution from ERS. I've had no contact from the company despite numerous emails and all information provided, I don't even have an agreed valuation yet, or whether my car would be repaired due to its rarity.

The reality is, over half a year and no communication in regards to a claim is laughable at best. ERS's prices are good, particularly if you're a younger classic car enthusiasts, but hope to god that you don't have anything unfortunate happen as it's a long and disappointing process to get the service that you paid for.

However, the reason this is not a one-star review is because initially when I had just had the incident, the phone staff were very helpful (as long as you talk to the office staff and not the out of office claims team which got multiple of my details wrong).

Hopefully my saga will come to an end within the next year or so, but I'm not quite sure I can recommend ERS on the topic of when you unfortunately have a claim.

Please listen under no circumstances use this company for your insurance as they pay out on claims without consent of policy holder.

They employ staff that have no people skills and treat you like a criminal and when you make a complaint they offer 拢100 compensation when your insurance had doubled in price please don鈥檛 use equity red star

Worst insurance company ever! Motor home was stolen and recovered in September 2018. I finally got it back from ERS in April 2019 with a shed load of faults. Most distressing time of our lives.
