Avoid using these ATMs!
We withdrawn 500 euros last week (Greece) and found out we were charged with 680 USD! This never happened to us and unheard of.
Anyone as an idea what can we do?

Don't bother with this useless junk of a bank and its ATMs. Even though they claim this is legal, often they'll charge you absurdly high conversion rates and extra fees which will make you wonder where the money goes. They claim it goes into their machines, but still charging ridiculous fees compared to other banks is practically scamming and ripping off.

Speaking from my experience at Budapest's main train station, often these ATMs are placed so that there's no alternate for you. You do wonder how such a scummy company operates in Europe with such regulations. They're targeting foreigners in places with different currencies. Especially places like Prague or Budapest which don't use the Euro.

Please save yourself money and time. Use a different ATM or just use cards wherever you can directly. Don't bother with this useless company. I hope someone will file a lawsuit against this considering how so many people have been ripped off without being given money.

Please. Please. I can't stress this enough. Save yourself the money and go for a reputable bank. Most places in Europe accept cards. I hope these scums go out of business.

Still shocked they are allowed to be in business, particularly in areas with high density like airports and city centres. They claim they're transparent with their fees but as many others have pointed out here, there's no mention of the extra fee on top of the bad exchange rate they give you. Do yourself a favour and stay away, check YouTube, there are dozens of videos with people being scammed by them. Just because it's legal, which is what they always claim, it doesn't make it moral. They are fully aware of how they make a living, by scamming unaware tourists.

They stole my money in Rovinj/ croatia. I went to atm and checked conversion rate and canceled the transaction however, 2 days later it has appeared on my bank statement that money the enquiry has been removed from my account! In any other circumstances this would be viewed as robbery!!!!!!!

Euronet are a scam cash machine company which charges extortionate fees to unwitting tourists to access their own money in foreign countries. I was charged 4 euros to withdraw 20 euros… because I didn't want to accept their exchange rate, which would have cost me 拢25 to withdrawn 20 Euros, even though 20 euros is 拢18. Avoid these cash machines whenever you see them in European cities and go to a local bank cash machine instead.

I was robbed by a Euronet atm yesterday. I went to withdraw 鈧?00 yesterday from a Euronet atm at a shop near my home. It did not dispense the cash but the transaction is still pending on my bank account. I want my money back. I rang the number on the side of the machine but the girl on the phone wasn't helpful. I phoned my bank today and they don't seem sure what can be done. I have been left with no grocery money because of Euronet

It is a total scam. Don't use these ATMs at the Rome Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci Aereport.
Their ATMs don't give cash and there is no message to say that the operation did not go through. They let you insert your debt card and pin and then you don't even know whether your card was charged. It is a total scam and it should be made illegal. I called their number and they basically said that their network does not accept bancomat and debt cards. They take credit cards only. More important they say this is an European network, it does not accept Italian cards. But they have the monopoly of ATMs at the airport in Rome. Such a shame

Reply from Euronet Worldwide

Dear *insert your name*,

Our ATMs may levy a charge on transactions, including if you鈥檙e using a card originally issued overseas. Our charges are fully and clearly displayed before a transaction is approved by a customer and all customers are able to cancel their transaction at any time. I can assure you that our ATMs are not scams 鈥?we鈥檙e fully transparent with our charges and we operate in line with all relevant laws and regulations all the countries in which our ATMs are available.

To put it another way… They are fully aware and up front that they are going to SCREW YOU so if you want to be screwed, please use their ATM.

Advice: There is likely NO REASON you need to use an ATM anyways. When paying for something with your card ALWAYS select "local currency" and not the currency of your country.

If people stop using these ATM's then they would go out of business or at least remove the ATM's since unethical businesses aren't making money from them.

Educate yourself before you go outside of your country…

Hi,

Very bad service never use the euronet atm anywhere they are doing scams , I have use forex card to withdraw an 300 euro amount ain galway ireland and euronet has debited 50.54 euro extra from my account. When I see the message I shocked it says 350.54 debited but I have put 300 euro on the atm machine and got the 300 euro only.

Now I am not sure what to do how can I get my extra amount refund from this fraud, I have contacted them but no positive reply from euronet.

Basically a robbery in full daylight. Last week I visited Copenhagen and visited a ATM machine in the reception hall to withdraw some money. As I punched in the wanted amount I noticed that the exchange rate was horrible – so I canceled the withdrawal. Card returned and no money to see, so I figured everything was OK, well not exactly, the money were deducted from my account anyway. How is this possible? I have noticed that this has occured to multiple persons here. If it were a normal person that did this they would be behind bars a long time ago, but i guess the rules does not apply to Euronet.

When you write a complaint and they don't agree with you, Euronet then choose to ignore you.
I have 3 times requested details of their Complaints Procedure and still waiting.
Once again a lack of transparency!

I used Euronet for the first time in Lisboa airport.
I will never use it again. I do travel the world, and it's the first
time I get caught in such a way …
They pretend to charge you 3 or 4 Euros a transaction, but they
get you in the rate of exchange which is way far from reality.
In short Euronet screws you when you get say Euros and your bank account or credit card is denominated in another currency.
I got 400 Euros from my Canadian credit card, and I ended paying about 60 Euros in transaction fees…. I got cash from my credit card all the time, and all the time banks applied a fair xrate, but not Euronet.
PLEASE AVOID EURONET.
