Useful as a learning tool. I don't really want to learn about Hollywood, or about television series, but I find it useful to brush up on, and learn new information about, history, literature, geography, etc. I am not worried about how I rate compared to others – I am not playing to best others, but to better myself. If that is your goal, and if you have the ability to discern what it is you want to learn about, I think you will find it a useful, and entertaining, site…

The editors and moderators on Funtrivia have removed fun from the site. The owner is an idiot. I'm 60 yrs old and I've been a paying member for over ten years and get treated like I'm a child. While an American owns the site and the majority of players are American, the editors are mostly foreigners who dislike Americans. The editors and moderators (PC police) remove long time players comments anytime they wish. The PC police run the site like Cold War Russia, North Korea, Cuba, Vezezuela, Iran, Iraq, and China all rolled into one! The site is becoming stagnant because the owner has let a set group of idiots control who gets to submit questions or quizzes and has given them the power of being an exclusive clique. While most of the new questions are submitted and selected by a clique, the paying members who are being chastised, punished, and banned for daring to complain are beginning to leave for other sites. I will no longer renew my membership. DO NOT waste your time or money.

I submitted a quiz and the stupid editors were nit picky about it so I quit in rage. Now I can't get back in and they locked my account. This site needs to be taken down.

None of the user-submitted questions are ever vetted for validity, which can cost you a tournament. I lost by a single point for (not) getting a question wrong, and had no way of challenging it (besides simply pointing out that the question was incorrectly scored, which does nothing to your score). They have no appeals process, whatsoever. All of the "contact us" links are circular and do not bring you to contact an admin. The only pre-constructed answer they provided regarding inquiries about a scoring dispute is the following from their site:
***
Sorry, but we are not able to alter scores to fix this type of situation. Just imagine if our internet connection hiccups and we had to change the scores of thousands of players! It simply is not practical.

Sorry for the inconvenience, and may you have better luck next time!
***

That's it? Just a flippant "too bad, so sad!" reply?

It's clear they don't care about making this a great site, and I'm BEYOND thankful that I wasn't stupid enough to ever give them any of my money for any of their "premium features" (including the privilege of being $20 lighter in the wallet).

For a great alternative mass trivia site, just go to Sporcle.com – at least it's run by competent people there.

This could be a good site except for the power hungry editors. I have been banned for some obscure reason and they said i had been banned before which I had not been. Bunch of idiots spoiling an otherwise good site.

Taking part in quizzes is easy, however creating them is a nightmare as the so called editors are overly picky and send back so called errors in grammar etc.
They are also extremely rude, I made the mistake of complaining about an editor being excessively picky and this was met with a rude reply.
Often the will send back with changes that need to be made, then when you make those changes they send another message that this change is wrong and suggesting you change it to what you already had put before. They seem to think they are English experts but often their suggested errors are not errors at all. They all seem power mad.
There is a chat/message board section that bans you for silly reasons, usually because you disagree with one of the higher ups.
This site is a rip off and I would not recommend it to anyone.

I have been playing daily on this site for over a year now, and am totally hooked. I pay the Gold Membership fee because it's a great deal, but I still had a good time before I took the plunge. I really don't believe some of the whinging on these reviews and suspect they might be from people on competing trivia sites, or people that just have to complain about something. What some say is cheating is no such thing. The site has been there for something like 25 years and some have been there many years and are bound to be lightning fast on the quizzes they've played thousands of times. You want to see cheating, play the FB trivia games. Lots of cheating over there. Funtrivia isn't perfect, but it's the best I've found in my 7 years of online triviating. 🙂

I paid for six months to keep score on my levels. I was also very interested in writing quizzes. $20 for six months isn't a bad price, but I eventually thought what do you really get? I won't be renewing. I was excited about quiz-writing but quickly found out how cumbersome the process is and how picky editors can be. On "movies," where I wrote two quizzes, the same editor was polite and generally fair. I did think the standards are not consistent and are dependent on the person editing. I put some work into my quizzes and am a good writer. However, I have taken movie quizzes that I thought were, well, junk and wondered who did the editing. On "television," where I wrote one quiz, the editor was unreasonably picky and came across, for online, as curt and rude. That person greatly dulled my enthusiasm for the site, and I won't spend any more time contributing quizzes. I have a lurking feeling that it helps to be part of the writing "clique." If you enjoy writing, I strongly recommend taking your talent elsewhere.

I have to wonder what the authors of negative comments are looking for. By the very definition trivia is knowledge or information of little value. There is such a wide variety of games and topics you are bound to find something of interest. There are several levels of difficulty so you can find challenge. People cheat. They cheat at golf, on taxes and on each other. Funtrivia is a community of people there will be cheaters like every where else. People can be rude and arbitrary. Play to learn and sharpen your mind and you will love this site. Expect behavior better than you find else where in the world and you will be as bitterly disappointed and get your feelings hurt just as you probably do in everyday life.

I got 15 or so badges, then got banned for no reason from Funtrivia. Don't waste your life! You will probably have better things to do then waste your life on this piece of garbage.

Moderators who have multiple accounts and a web site creator with thin skin…that's Fun Trivia. If they don't like you, you end up attacked or banned. Americans pay the majority of gold memberships while being condemned for creating the majority of the quizzes. Twenty dollars for six months of what? Making the web site creator rich as he uses the questions and quizzes, YOUR hard work, to build his kingdom. You are not permitted to discuss issues unless the mods like you and are willing to turn a blind eye. Face it…the way the world is today…Fun Trivia is 1984 by George Orwell. Can't discuss politics or religion yet there are quizzes about them. If it makes Terry money, and the mods control the players, then it's ok in Fun Trivia. As far as accuracy in quizzes..considering the number of misspelling words, etc., the editors need to get a clue.

I have played this site for years, I really love competing against people around the world. The only thing that aggravates me is the lack of interest in going after obvious cheaters such as people who get all 15 questions correct in 20 or so seconds. Since there are no prizes to be won, I guess there really is no reason to go after them except it aggravates the heck out of people like me who play the game straight. Why these people cheat on a trivia game (trivia, for heck's sake!) is another question.

I can't stand loosers who complain about the $38 a year gold membership. Or $20 for 6 months. Try being in Canada as it is based on US dollars. Let me ask you what you spent on porn sites last year? No? How about your Netflix? No? Your ISP server? You get everything free? Congrads.! 38 bucks works out to just over 3 dollars a month.. Quit smoking, give up fatty chips while playing FT, and go collect some empties for Christ sake. While FT has a lot of problems, in one form or another, the $38 a year is not one of them!

It was the first site I joined the day I got home internet, and after 5 years moderating, writing 36 quizzes and seven crosswords, and meeting a number of members over the years I'm still going strong 16 years later. It's a real community.

well its ok I just started and when I made a quiz it kept on getting back and now it has been about 5 days until my next edit and it is so annoying so don't write a quiz unless you are really good at english grammer so annoying. So yeah its a good quiz site but not a really good writing quiz site. I am so annoyed

There are some fun games on this site but most of the questions are mundane, uninteresting and often, contain inaccurate answers. The real problems with this site are the clique of loser long timers, most of whom call themselves "editors", who clearly have nothing better to do than write inane quizzes filled with obscure facts, while maintaining an iron clad grip on what is published by anyone other than themselves. It is telling that many of these "editors". (What a joke, many of them can't use basic punctuation!) are unemployed, yet they hold themselves up as the penultimate of knowledge! If any of you stupid editors ever read this please consider that when someone submits a quiz or question for publication on this site, it is extremely likely that they know more about the subject than you do.

I am yet another upset fan of Funtrivia.com. I play fair, but somehow for no apparent reason they let people cheat. My issue is that I am an athlete doctor who rarely sees true factual information as it relates to medicine for what I believe is a major component of showing someone you may just know a little. It's another form of how the country is becoming dumbed down to where it is more about foolishness sometimes than real medical fact. I am most upset with how the moderators want to come off as being somewhat of an intellectual superior specimen to their futile followers. Try posting a quiz and if you aren't part of the chosen 20 or so you get harassed to the point of them not letting you post more than one quiz at a time. Snoozy has the most inept crosswords however the admins love the drivel.

I joined funtrivia in 2005, wrote 128 quizzes on a variety of subjects, using the screen name Cymruambyth. I never had any problems or comp[laints about the site – and I don't agree with others who cite rude editors or cheating in their reviews of funtrivia. I never experienced any problems until last year (2013), when, for reasons unknown to me, and for which I received no explanation, I was summarily banned from the site. I have tried to regain entry but have had no success. If Terry Ford or anyone from funtrivia reads this, please contact me at this e mail address ([email protected]) and let me access the site again. I really enjoyed writing and playing the quizzes. Thank you.

A nice site for trivia lovers, but there is obvious cheating going on, and the administrators do little or nothing to prevent it. One player in particular routinely achieves scores that are absolutely impossible, but nothing is done about it. Players are encouraged to write quizzes, but are not given compensation, and quizzes become the property of the website. Some of the editors are real head cases. Still, it is fun to play, and quite addictive.

I love this site, It has made me smarter and now I know more facts. Yes, the other reviews are slightly true. Some of the editors and the members are hard to work with. Everyone has there bad days though, bad days at there real job, kids stressing them out, etc. $20 for 6 months isn't much at all, I am actually a Gold member and it is well worth it. Highly suggested to try, even your children can play with adult supervision!

I enjoy the challenges and making quizzes.

There are two problems

1) The people who run the site are rude (customer service is beyond appalling…don't even bother)

2) Some of the editors are very incompetent. The rules when you start writing quizzes are that you have to be nice and follow what the editors say. I didn't think it would be a problem but eventually it will be. They put that up there because eventually you will want to chew out and/or kill the editors.

I think Funtrivia is a great site. I've been playing there for years. Sometimes paid, sometimes not. I've never had a problem with finding something to play. Joining a team was a great thing to do. …People to talk to, things to talk about, quizzes etc, I had not found on my own.

Some here have intimated that writing Questions & producing Quizzes are almost required. That isn't true. In one of the big group of challenges, there is a challenge to learn how to write a question. I just didn't do it. Someday I might give it a go.

The people at Funtrivia.com are like people everywhere. I find people are people, they will treat you like you treat them. On every question, there is a place to advise that an answer is wrong. From all I know, Funtrivia wants the answers to the questions to be accurate. And the questions must be clear so that the answers to the questions are clear. If the trivia is poorly written and the answers wishy washy, here would not be fun. It is called *Fun Trivia* for a reason.

I have found the trivia Questions & Answer to be highly varied, both in topic and depth of knowledge. Some quizzes are not timed. There are a few Team Games, (where the teams play against each other). Usually you are competing against other individuals and against yourself.

Then there are the Awards. You can win Badges, and Badgellets. They are cool and fun. You can always win brains too.

I've been a member of funtrivia.com for close to ten years. I don't always have a gold member status, but when I do, $20 for six months is not breaking the bank. Contrary to what the other reviewers want you to believe, the majority of the site is not only available to gold members. Yes, when you get to a certain level in non challenge quizzes, they stop recording your points, but you still get points for the challenges.

These people are disgruntled and it is easy to tell by reading their reviews. If $3 breaks your bank, maybe you should be out trying to work and support yourself rather than looking for websites to play on.

In all my time I have never had an issue with funtrivia. I go there every day, I am a member of a great team and I love going there. This is a five star website all the way.
