Greyhound is a very poor service I do not recommend to anyone stay well clear I payed monthly On the 16 and they didn鈥檛 take my bins today 2/11/2020 they told me that they only accept payment on the 1 of every month (this must be new because I am with them over a year and this is the first time it happened) I am now looking for a new bin company stay clear.

Very poor experience with Greyhound and thought I'd share it with the community in the hope that it saves someone else slipping into a similar situation.

Had a full year contract with Greyhound and was very happy until one day I noticed I had been charged an extra 鈧?4.40 for the month of June on top of my 鈧?8 a month flat fee. Turns out I went over my weight of 42kgs for the month. I'd gone over for a few other months as well but that was only a few euro so wasn't too bothered by them. Looking into it in more detail Greyhound had actually lifted my black bin 3 times in the month of June but didn't increase the weight allowance by 50% to take into account the extra lift in the month. I rang the customer service team and I was told this is the case for every household (which means a lot of customers like me would've overpaid for that month. Greyhound knows this happens every year and not doing anything about it). The said normally customers ring up in May and get their weight increased for the month then ring up again in June and get it dropped back down. Everyone on my road uses Greyhound and I've asked 5 of them about this. Not one of them heard of it and were all overcharged for the month of June.

Needless to say I wasn't the happiest of customers and so as I was now out of contract by over 3 months I decided to have more control over charges on my bins so I switched to Panda as they don't restrict weight on the black bin.
As soon as I closed my account with Greyhound I was told there was an early termination fee of 鈧?0 going to be applied. When I explained my contract ended 3 months ago and I was now on a rolling 30 day agreement I was told they'd signed me up to a new yearly contract as soon as the old one ended. I asked for a copy of this contract, were my consent was given and/or a copy of the email timestamped making me aware of this renewal. That was requested over 5 weeks ago and I'm yet to receive a response.

A couple of days after being told I had to pay an exit fee I got a call from the sales manager who apologised for all the hassle, told me the fee was applied in error and would now be removed and then offered me a discounted yearly contract (which I swiftly declined given the hassle I had to get to this point). I told him I was now cancelling my Direct Debit and to contact me for any overweight charges for my last lift and I'd be happy to pay them. I haven't had anyone contact me asking for payment.

It's now 17 days since my rolling 30 day contract ended with Greyhound and the three bins are still sitting on the road yet to be taken away. I've made 3 phone calls over the space of 3 weeks to have them removed and keep getting told theres been a mixup and the request hasn't been submitted yet but they will put one in now and they should be picked up within the next 10 days.

Further to this I just got a text message this morning to say I now have an outstanding balance of 鈧?3 on my account and as my direct debit request failed, payment is due immediately or my bins wont be picked up this week…good thing I moved bin company so!

I've just reviewed my Greyhound account online to check these charges and can see that theres now charges for the 2 months after my account was supposed to be closed. So back onto the phone to talk through with the customer service agent who couldn't make head or tails of all the charges so she said she'd have to pass it over to the loyalty team to review. Can't wait to see what explanation I get next!

As you can see they have been an absolute disaster to deal with and my only takeaway from all this is yes everyone makes mistakes but it's how you deal with them afterwards that counts and I have to say with Greyhound I'm one customer that wont be hanging around to find out!

So I have been with Greyhound for over 2 years. Since we are moving to a house that already has bin providers I wanted to terminate my service. After I expressed my self to an agent on the online chat he told me someone will call me back from the cancellation and bin collection team. Day after I got a call from a lady with an Indian accent, speaking very fast and unable to answer some of my questions like she was reading some script. She explained to me that everyone has to pay the bin collection and sanitization fee when terminating their service. I asked is it mandatory for everyone and where does it say that that fee exists. After that phone call, I read my contract, and under the termination section, it says you pay that fee only if you cancel their service within 12 months. Since that was not my case I called again half an hour later to discuss this with Greyhound customer service. He explained to me that that allegedly they renew every single contract every year due to price changes. I told him that either it's illegal to renew the contract every year without customers consent, since I never got asked to sign the renewed contract or it is illegal they are charging this fee even if I was with them for longer than 2 years. I told him I know for a fact I am right and I encourage them to charge the fee so I have the grounds for a lawsuit. After I gave him my info to check my account he told me that he removed the 40.80 euro charge. I still hope they will charge me so I could get some easy money. Point is, call them and fight them off. They avoid telling you what you are entitled to and will charge you if possible. Also whoever got charged the cancellation fee 50 euro for early exit, that does not exist, the only thing they can charge you is that bin removal and cleaning that they do not even do after you pay it cause when I moved in this house, their bins were already at the house and not as clean as they should have been if someone paid that fee. Would be nice if some government agency or customer protection looks into this company.

Poor service. Charges customers more than what they show on their website and don鈥檛 send emails about the payment being charged.

BUYER BEWARE ! ,
for months they have been overcharging me and only collecting my bins half the time at best, when i rang up customer care, they put me through to an indian call centre where the operatives just read the same 3 lines of script over and over at lenght, in the end everytime they charged me extra for collecting my bin that they never collected in the first place, THIS IS A FRAUDULENT COMPANY. with virtually no customer care to speak of.

Worst company ever had.
When I moved out, I explained them (3 times) I couldn't keep the contract cause of my new apartment and their collection service. They didn't care, they even told me why do you think you can't? we'll give you more deals. I don't care, I can't even keep the freakin bins!
then they charged me for the bin collection, and 50 for early contract cancellation. Total shame on you!
PS: They keep texting me about the collection day. so I blocked their number..

Without a doubt the most incompetent company I've ever had to deal with. In 8 months, they've not ONCE collected our brown organic waste bin on the appointed day. Instead, I have to spend 20 minutes speaking to them the following day, explaining the SAME issue, getting the same responses, before they send a truck to collect it. Meanwhile, the neighbours get increasingly pissed off as the organic waste festers.

If we had a choice, we would have swapped recycling provider months ago. Unfortunately they're the only ones who serve our area of Dublin. The wonders of privatised public services!

Absolutely rubbish when it comes to skip hire. Ordered one and waited and waited day after day. Given excuse after excuse. Wouldn't bother with them again

I had 2 greyhound bins left outside my house so contacted greyhound to remove them. Countless online chats, emails and phone calls later we are no closer to having them picked up. I鈥檓 highly tempted to just move them outside someone else鈥檚 but then they will have the same issue.
I could go on. I鈥檇 also give less than 1 star if possible because 1 star implies they鈥檝e actually done something which they haven鈥檛.

Absolutely terrible service. Hardly ever collect bins without multiple phone calls to follow up. I have lost hours of my life on the phone with them and been given so many false promises. All I want them to do is collect the bins which is the service I am paying for but they seem to be incapable of doing so – not even free months or cash back could make me stay with them. Do not ever deal with them – too stressful……and no deposit returned yet so I assume I will have to continue to waste hours talking to them…..

This companies business is rubbish, it's called re-cycling these days, but I'm old enough to remember business's of this type being referred to as rubbish collectors.

Don't let the re-branding to re-cycling fool you.

There business is rubbish, their service is rubbish, there customer service is rubbish.

They have one outstanding accomplishment, they are World Class at apologising. presumably because they have become so practiced at it.

Do not go near this crowd

Service is good and they pick up when scheduled to do so.

The wont pick up any recycling thats left beside the bin when collection is due, I had a lot of IKEA cardboard packaging that would not fit in the bin along with all my other recycled waste. They emptied the bins but left everything else behind, very frustrating considering Thorntons would do this for me. Gonna leave Greyhound once my contract is up.

Very poor company. Originally rang to cancel my contract due to unforeseen circumstances which had been explained, to which they suggested we pass the contract on to the next tenant (therefore would not have to pay cancellation fees) I said I would ring them back to clarify what was happening and then it turns out they went ahead and cancelled it anyway. Cancellation fees are ridiculously expensive. Members of staff not helpful regardless of many calls being made and after speaking to several members of staff. My last phone call consisted of them telling me that they cancelled my contract weeks before and that there would be no more charges to my account. Check my account the next morning and a large charge again. Absolutely pointless trying to ring and discuss it because every time I have attempted it before no one seems to have a clue what is going on. Overall, would not recommend this company.

Run & Hide.
I've been a Greyhound customer some 8 years. They changed their fees over the years without telling me, often randomly didn't pick up the rubbish, did not give me back my 150 euros deposit, and generally tried to make things complicated.

***Post reply from Greyhound***
-I spent a lot of time on chat/phone with various cust. support reps
-They did not give back the deposit (claimed i never paid one)
-They instead chose to charge me a 40 euro cancellation fee 🙂

Really disappointing service.

Bins not collected on the correct days, then I had to call several times to get the bins collected. Promised call backs from manger this never happened.

The person who did call back was clearly reading from a script. Everything I said was responded to with "Um-hum I see, that must be frustrating."

Because the bins are not collected other people where putting rubbish in the bins. Escalated this to greyhound they advised me to get bin locks. THEY DON"T WORK!

I never had a worst experience with a company like this before. I have been chasing with the agents for past 3 months just to rectify a mistake that they have done on their side. I don't want to go into details. They end up created more mistake as to fix one. The way they work is very unsystematic. you have to explain your issue to every agent. I am still waiting for them to fix all the issues. Thinking about changing the company now. I want to stay calm rather than worrying about the bins being collected or not. My personal experience is very bad with them now. If i have the option to speak with the manager i would have. very frustrated.

Bad company.
They gonna charge you for "service" even if you didn't leave your bin outside !!! I thought I can save some money because I make less rubbish.?! But not this time and not in this company. Here you have to pay for no-service as well.
It's extremely unfair like in communism. It is not serious company, it's just pure greed and robbery.
No wonder people leave their rubbish at the side of the road (moreover very bad attitude). I'm gonna burn mine next time.
