Had a full year contract with Greyhound and was very happy until one day I noticed I had been charged an extra 鈧?4.40 for the month of June on top of my 鈧?8 a month flat fee. Turns out I went over my weight of 42kgs for the month. I'd gone over for a few other months as well but that was only a few euro so wasn't too bothered by them. Looking into it in more detail Greyhound had actually lifted my black bin 3 times in the month of June but didn't increase the weight allowance by 50% to take into account the extra lift in the month. I rang the customer service team and I was told this is the case for every household (which means a lot of customers like me would've overpaid for that month. Greyhound knows this happens every year and not doing anything about it). The said normally customers ring up in May and get their weight increased for the month then ring up again in June and get it dropped back down. Everyone on my road uses Greyhound and I've asked 5 of them about this. Not one of them heard of it and were all overcharged for the month of June.
Needless to say I wasn't the happiest of customers and so as I was now out of contract by over 3 months I decided to have more control over charges on my bins so I switched to Panda as they don't restrict weight on the black bin.
As soon as I closed my account with Greyhound I was told there was an early termination fee of 鈧?0 going to be applied. When I explained my contract ended 3 months ago and I was now on a rolling 30 day agreement I was told they'd signed me up to a new yearly contract as soon as the old one ended. I asked for a copy of this contract, were my consent was given and/or a copy of the email timestamped making me aware of this renewal. That was requested over 5 weeks ago and I'm yet to receive a response.
A couple of days after being told I had to pay an exit fee I got a call from the sales manager who apologised for all the hassle, told me the fee was applied in error and would now be removed and then offered me a discounted yearly contract (which I swiftly declined given the hassle I had to get to this point). I told him I was now cancelling my Direct Debit and to contact me for any overweight charges for my last lift and I'd be happy to pay them. I haven't had anyone contact me asking for payment.
It's now 17 days since my rolling 30 day contract ended with Greyhound and the three bins are still sitting on the road yet to be taken away. I've made 3 phone calls over the space of 3 weeks to have them removed and keep getting told theres been a mixup and the request hasn't been submitted yet but they will put one in now and they should be picked up within the next 10 days.
Further to this I just got a text message this morning to say I now have an outstanding balance of 鈧?3 on my account and as my direct debit request failed, payment is due immediately or my bins wont be picked up this week…good thing I moved bin company so!
I've just reviewed my Greyhound account online to check these charges and can see that theres now charges for the 2 months after my account was supposed to be closed. So back onto the phone to talk through with the customer service agent who couldn't make head or tails of all the charges so she said she'd have to pass it over to the loyalty team to review. Can't wait to see what explanation I get next!
As you can see they have been an absolute disaster to deal with and my only takeaway from all this is yes everyone makes mistakes but it's how you deal with them afterwards that counts and I have to say with Greyhound I'm one customer that wont be hanging around to find out!

for months they have been overcharging me and only collecting my bins half the time at best, when i rang up customer care, they put me through to an indian call centre where the operatives just read the same 3 lines of script over and over at lenght, in the end everytime they charged me extra for collecting my bin that they never collected in the first place, THIS IS A FRAUDULENT COMPANY. with virtually no customer care to speak of.
,
When I moved out, I explained them (3 times) I couldn't keep the contract cause of my new apartment and their collection service. They didn't care, they even told me why do you think you can't? we'll give you more deals. I don't care, I can't even keep the freakin bins!
then they charged me for the bin collection, and 50 for early contract cancellation. Total shame on you!
PS: They keep texting me about the collection day. so I blocked their number..

If we had a choice, we would have swapped recycling provider months ago. Unfortunately they're the only ones who serve our area of Dublin. The wonders of privatised public services!

I could go on. I鈥檇 also give less than 1 star if possible because 1 star implies they鈥檝e actually done something which they haven鈥檛.

Don't let the re-branding to re-cycling fool you.
There business is rubbish, their service is rubbish, there customer service is rubbish.
They have one outstanding accomplishment, they are World Class at apologising. presumably because they have become so practiced at it.
Do not go near this crowd

The wont pick up any recycling thats left beside the bin when collection is due, I had a lot of IKEA cardboard packaging that would not fit in the bin along with all my other recycled waste. They emptied the bins but left everything else behind, very frustrating considering Thorntons would do this for me. Gonna leave Greyhound once my contract is up.

I've been a Greyhound customer some 8 years. They changed their fees over the years without telling me, often randomly didn't pick up the rubbish, did not give me back my 150 euros deposit, and generally tried to make things complicated.
***Post reply from Greyhound***
-I spent a lot of time on chat/phone with various cust. support reps
-They did not give back the deposit (claimed i never paid one)
-They instead chose to charge me a 40 euro cancellation fee 🙂

Bins not collected on the correct days, then I had to call several times to get the bins collected. Promised call backs from manger this never happened.
The person who did call back was clearly reading from a script. Everything I said was responded to with "Um-hum I see, that must be frustrating."
Because the bins are not collected other people where putting rubbish in the bins. Escalated this to greyhound they advised me to get bin locks. THEY DON"T WORK!

They gonna charge you for "service" even if you didn't leave your bin outside !!! I thought I can save some money because I make less rubbish.?! But not this time and not in this company. Here you have to pay for no-service as well.
It's extremely unfair like in communism. It is not serious company, it's just pure greed and robbery.
No wonder people leave their rubbish at the side of the road (moreover very bad attitude). I'm gonna burn mine next time.
