Guys! This is some Chinese knock off that never worked for me. The alarm and the sensor goes off every hour for no reason. My system does not arm anymore, called the company and they told me that I need a new processor. I purchased the processor and the alarm never worked, they also told me that they were going to replace one of my cameras, after I sent it to them, they said they were not going to replace the camera anymore. I had to tell them to send the camera back, otherwise, they were going to keep it.

DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND AVOID FRUSTRATION! GET YOURSELF A REAL ALARM SYSTEM; OTHERWISE, YOU WILL REMEMBER THIS REVIEW FOR YEARS TO COME!

It's an ok system; the videos are good quality but sensors are not that great.

I am having a nightmare with Home8 support. I have a faulty camera which did not show video in the app. Their staff correspond in broken English with very poor grammar and clearly consider their customers to be fools. They have sent numerous long winded emails telling me how to rectify the problem. I have followed these to the letter and the end result is that I still have a faulty camera which does not now show up on my app at all. The simple solution would be to send me a new camera but no!!! They are now telling me to go back to the original retailer and go through them. I鈥檝e totally had it with them. Very poor support and quite rude and dismissive at times.

Basic, but effective security system. Really like how easy it is to install and it was not pricey. Was looking for sensors and cameras with an app that would set off an alarm and notify you remotely, rather than a siren. Does the job! Will be getting more sensors etc.

Approximately six months ago I purchased an entire Home 8 alarm system (X2). Each system costs approximately $200 each. Eleven (11) days ago the system started acting up and STOPPED WORKING. I contacted customer service by telephone as well as via email. Immediately, I received a pre-generated email/statement that said the office is closed and someone will contact me on the next business day. Again, that was eleven days ago and no one has contacted me yet and they do not intend to.

On the next business day which was a Monday I received an email telling me to take "screen shots of the alarm system being set from your phone" as if to insinuate that I had either not set it or I had done something wrong. I did the same thing the days it did not work that I have done for the previous six months that the system appeared to be working. Nonetheless, I did that and I also updated the ticket status online. For several more days I updated the ticket and provided additional information. I also informed them that I have video and photos of me still in my residence walking around, opening and closing windows, doors and going through my closet and still not one of the alarms either went off or sent me an alert that someone (me) was in my home. There was just no option on the ticket update form to allow attachments.

After multiple emails to them with no reply, I received an email stating that my issue had been sent to the management team and someone would contact me. Once again, that was eleven days ago and not only has no one contacted me. A few moments before writing this review (which I will also send to the BBB, Consumer Affairs and any other agencies that monitor business practices), I checked and the ticket status is "closed". Well, I see how much they value their customers who spend hundreds if not thousands on their system which only worked for me for approximately six months. So much for the "Support Center" for Home8systems.com.

I am not only disappointed in the system, I feel it is my duty to inform others who might even consider purchasing this product to BEWARE that they do not stand by their product nor do their care about their customers. So much for a security system that is NOT secure!!!!!!!

I will be telling everyone who will listen about the shoddy NON service that I received from this company including but not limited to Fry's Electronics which is where I purchased the "product". I hope this helps others so that they will not endure the cost of either this system or heaven forbid having this system and having it NOT WORK when you need it.

I ordered the garage door opener kit on Amazon & received a camera with PIR not functioning. Company sent a new one with no hassle. But it didn't arrive for weeks. The Premium trial expired soon thereafter. I'd like to get an extension on the trial since we couldn't fully utilize it due to camera function. I'm currently waiting for an online chat rep to get on the line…for over 15 minutes. No answer on the phone number listed, even during business hours. No response from my last two support ticket messages. Initially impressed, but I'm not very happy with the customer service.

So a good system we like it a lot but don't bother calling customer service they don't answer the phone and it you leave a message they don't call you back…wouldn't buy again for that reason…

– The alarm often beeps at random times whether it is on or not.
– It's frustrating not to be able to have multiple people use the phone app without paying extra. I have the app on my phone so I can see if it's set. However, my sister never knows. If there was a screen on the actual alarm where you could see whether it was set or not, this would be fine. However, it's frustrating when one person has to do everything/tell the other person if it's set. I understand you're trying to make money but it honestly makes me want to return the whole system and I would never recommend it to a friend because of this.

I bought home8 for its combination of self monitoring and pay as you go coupled with end to end encryption. Self monitoring has saved us from numerous false alarms as we get used to the system, We intended to only use it when we travelled but, now that we are used to it, not sure we'll ever turn it off. Need for encryption should be self evident, even though many systems don't yet offer it. Don't need anyone else watching our cameras or monitoring our system. I also wanted a cellular modem as backup if we lost hardwire internet. Even though home8 no longer offers this service, they guided me to the right legacy equipment and they trouble shot it until we got it working. It took a while but great support.

Second attempt to review the product by Home8 as my first review was removed for honesty, when I stated facts publically available in my BBB. I have also put in a claim to the BBB about this purchase of which I have yet to hear a response, which is not uncommon in regards to this product and this company, this is not worth the ulcer you will most likely get from a discounted little brown box – as I did not know this was a Home8 or iControl product, branded as "MiVA" to me nor was there anything about a monthly subscription on the box, that said there are other products offered by the company that I believe are best in class also offered by this company, technologically superior without monthly subscriptions and offer much more in the long run. Nothing I have stated in this article is untrue and can be verified if this is pulled again I will be attaching this to my BBB report and including trust-pilot. A community is a .org not .com

I started with the package including door alarms, 2 video cameras and a motion detector. I added a couple additional video cameras to that package as well as a plug that can be remotely activated. (It is a pretty big house and we are gone a lot.)

For my second home I purchased two video cameras that can scan the rooms and exterior doors. It is a much smaller home and I believe it will be adequate.

All the items were really easy to install. I have peace of mind when I have to leave my homes unoccupied. I can look at them whenever I want. One of my cameras looks out the window so I can enjoy my view from afar. Love this system and my interactions with this company have been excellent. Some items were purchased directly and some from Amazon.

Currently own the home8 garage door opener paired with security camera. Functionality of the device is great, user friendly, and easy to install. Very satisfied with the device kit itself.

Not happy with the subscription. In the website, it states that 1 "owner" access, and 1 "authorized" access comes standard with purchasing the device. I(owner) am currently the only user allowed access to the system at all, after having tried to add 1 other. Don't know if this is a glitch; looking to contact the company for clarification. The system should allow for at least one other user without having to spend $10/month.

I purchased the full system and added everything you can the system needs a alarm key pad the remote is ok but if you can't get to them the camera motion sensor sets the alarm off it really needs the ability to customize it. There are better systems available for less money you can only have it on one phone unless you pay the monthly charge in today's world we won't to have options you have no options with this system if I could I would return it the best thing about it is the setup is easy but today they all are easy if you have a pet your missing out on all the motion detection options it has very old technology you can get sensors that will detect size I had one 20 years ago I would expect today's basis system to offer 20 year old technology end result keep looking the system works on very old technology and offers little to no customization I would no recommend this to a friend or family it will give you a fake sense of security and relying on it to protect your home family would be a mistake

Good: Easy set up. App clean and intuitive.
Bad: PIR not work right out of box. Two tech calls to get replacement processed. New PIR moved around to several locations. Too many false alarms to use. Camera unit reliable for several weeks then started with false alarms too.

I love being able to check on my home when I'm not there but wish my husband could check at same time without bumping each other off. System itself is great.

The Garage kit was perfect for me and I would pay extra if the kit came with Micro SD cards. Install was easy and after a month in service no problems.

Easy to install because I had my own ether net cable. Camera worked for couple days. Called support three times and left messages with no call backs
