I took advantage of the Hostgator Black Friday sale to get my new business website setup. It's been a bit slow for me to get setup over the holidays but with what I have done so far, everything has worked as expected. I had one issue on the initial setup of the site and the technical support rep I dealt with was knowledgeable about the issue and got it resolved quickly.

I can state this without any hesitation – HG has performed well above my expectations. Possibly the only other company who has come close to their excellent service is InMotionHosting – but you will pay through the nose to use their service. I have a cloud based service and paid $400 for 3 years. The amount of amenities, service, reliability HG provides is remarkable – impressive.

I got everything I needed and still have no website.
Since I was treated poorly but Hostgator agents and some supervisors, Cassie a supervisor have changed my host expiration to 02/10/2022, and when I called to reconfirm an agent said my expiration is November 2021 and after I mentioned I am filing a complaint. HE FOUND THE ACTUAL EXPIRATION. Funny right!

Hostgator has exceeded all my expectations as a website hosting provider. Their service is always up, quick, and responsive. The app is easy to use and the plugins and additional services Hostgator provides meet all my website needs. I've used this service for over seven years with no issues. It is also very affordable and offers several different plans to meet my needs as they change. Happy customer!

I have had a ticket open for over a week without any response. My website is down, backups kept for only two days so no rollback available – no response to a ticket asking for help to uninstall an unhelpful WordPress update

I was recently having trouble logging in to my email portal. Wasn't able to reset my password without chatting with tech support. While Chatting with tech support, in order to further assist me, they needed my email / hostgator admin login credentials. Who thinks this is an okay method of support?!? What year is it?!?

I've used HostGator now for 3 different WordPress sites. Great company to do business with! I've always received great customer support. I would highly recommend them.

Hostgator was one of the first hosting companies I used for my websites. I have been with them for a number of years and have been very pleased with their hosting, customer service, and technical service. They are one of the few companies still offering live phone service which is terrific. Give them a try. I think you will like them.

Its good customer service only for new customers (not the existing). I was not able to reach live chat after three weeks of purchasing the domain, they have put automated system says delays are occurred and will be connected to agent within 15 minutes. I lost my consecutive third attempt to reach live chat. Horrible customer service.

Insanely slow speed but the support was nice!

Signed up a few months ago, migrated my site and…. yikes. Despite very friendly support along the way, the performance of my blog was always super slow and just got worse over time. Not that it was a big site or anything fancy and despite lots of adjustments, never could get it to anything reasonable. Ended up moving hosts early and sure enough, things are zippy-ish (I mean shared hosting is never fast but from 10 second page loads to 3 was worth the change).

In a market segment that's plagued with subpar customer support and service, HostGator offers live chat or telephone support 24 hours a day / 7 days a week.

If your issue requires more in-depth, technical support, your request will be escalated to the proper support staff.

I'm going on 15 years with HostGator and can say that any issues that have occurred during my hosting relationship with them have been ultimately resolved and generally resolved in an expedient manner.

Any company can provide you bandwidth and a hosting platform but it takes great customer service to make the relationship last!

Over a two year period, a child company of Endurance International, Hostgator.com, charged me for services that had previously been cancelled. After numerous contacts they said they would refund the fraudulent charges to the card used. However that card had since expired and was removed from my profile with them so as not to be used for other fraudulent transactions. When I requested a paper check be mailed to me I was told I'd "need to wait and see."

I used host gator for over 10 years sense they fist came out. When they first came out they where the best. Great support and great servers all fast. Now there is no way I would ever recomend them to any one. There support is the worst. Hands down the worst. its impossible to get a tec with half a brain. There servers are slow and laggy. They cant even set up a vps properly for you. But will charge you a premo prices for there services.

The checkout process cleared my promo code and overcharged me $300. In trying to resolve the issue, I chatted online with a couple different reps and none of them seemed to have a complete understanding of English. I finally asked for a manager, who was not available. The replies to my statements and questions had nothing to do with what I said, and they didn't offer helpful replies. It was like pulling teeth to get an actual answer. For instance:
[Me: Will my hosting package remain in my account after the reversal or will I need to check out again?
H: Exactly!
We will notify you via email]
After over an hour in chat, I think(?) my issue is being resolved, but I really am unsure whether I will receive my order or if I will need to check out again.

the worst hosting provider ever ,
they are fake i bought the cloud hosting pro plan, they say they offer 6 slices and 6 gb ram , when i host my website that have 20 k daily visitors on it , in less than 6 hourd they shut it down they say this hosting can't handle this huge traffic , i asked them w-t-f 6 gb ram can't handle it , and they answered me actually it's only four ,
why TF you are saying 6 gb ram in prices page , also in cpanel you can't know how much they actually ram and slices offered you since only shown 25% of ram,
it's was the worst experience i had so far

If I had the time I would sue them. 2020 mafia.

I've been with hostgator for 10 years. The service hasn't been perfect but I did stick with them.

This week one of my servers gets 500 error on all web sites. Contact support and issue is fixed within 10 minutes. Reason – modified .htaccess file.

We check the account and there has been no unauthorized access. The mystery of it…

4 hours later I get an email that the issue hasn't really been fixed and there is an urgent recommendation for service upgrade which will result in 300% price increase. But all sites on the server are working just fine so I don't respond to the email.

But in 30 minutes I get a call. Hostgator support making calls! Whaat? First time in 10 years. The nice agent explains to me that it is highly recommended to do the service upgrade in order to avoid interruption of service like the one earlier. I refuse as I am getting suspicious. An email with direct contact info of the agent is sent to me just in case I wanted to get in touch. Strange, all the personal attention is making me even more nervous.

15 hours later (no updates, no new installs, no traffic, no unauthorized access, barely any traffic) another 500 error on the same server.

I try to restore the .htaccess but no matter what permission settings I put, the file cannot be modified. Any of MY files cannot be modified.

I call support.
In a span of 2 hours I chat with 3 different agents.
All conversations go in the exact same way.

"Hi, don't worry we will fix the 500 in no time. Give me a few minutes" In a few minutes "I am sorry, there is nothing I can do so I've escalated to admin. They should be in touch with you within 48-72 hrs"

Now, no matter how important your site is, it is not acceptable for a hosting provider not to take action for such a long time. Anyhow, I wait.

In 20 hours, still nothing. This smells really bad. I decide to call the agent who called me earlier and try to order the stupid upgrade for a month so I can get my sites back online while migrating to a new host.
Guess what, you have to prepay for 12 months, non-negotiable. In other words, blackmail.

While the IT department of the new provider is migrating my data, Hostgator tries to cut off their access on multiple occasions.

Once the migration is done, I get confirmation that the hostgator server had incorrect settings hence the 500. I never touched any settings…

Now all my sites are online.

I do not recommend using hostgator or any EIG brands. They are a 21st century mafia.

No stars would be more accurate….had an error establishing connection with database this morning, used live chat to get sorted but agency managed to delete all the files in my database including my backup. Am now in a queue waiting for Hostgator to deign to restore my site from their server, even though they caused the error. No apology and I have to pay $25 for the privilege. 10 hours on and still no restoration of my site, which is my livelihood. Will you pay me what I lose in income Hostgator and waive the $25 charge for an error YOU made? No trust left at all.

Happy to say shortly after this review, my site was live again and no charge was made for the restoration. I received a call and was able to chat through the issues with an Escalation Manager. Happy there will be learning from the issue and I now have an escalation channel should anything else like that occur.

All our email was going to spam. They suggested we get a dedicated IP for a better reputation. Okay, hook us up. They did and the site immediately stopped working. It's been three days now of phone calls and chats to no avail. Can't even get a reply from the server admins. The lower grade tech support folks say it's a server issue but no one is fixing it. On Saturday, they said wait 24 hours and someone will get back to me. Nothing, another call, another 24 hours, another chat, wait until tomorrow. So the site has been down for three days and nothing's getting done about it. It's their problem. My problem is finding a new hosting company.

Is HostGator legit or scam? Can I trust HostGator?
