I was charged recently 0.08p on my credit card one month after I had used the service. I asked icanhire to explain the charge and I was informed that this was generated by the system and given no further information. The customer service representative then cut my call and abstained from answering my callback. I think this is very suspicious behaviour and further investigations into this company show that it is difficult to make a formal complaint. Although the service was good at the time, the follow up charges (without invoicing or notification) is just unacceptable.

… and one star is generous!

Picked up van with my 7 year old in toe, only to find neither passenger seat belts secured. Refused to drive the van as one, it would be illegal and two, no way I'm putting my child at risk. Rang company immediately – was put on hold for over 12 minutes! Eventually told there were no other vans available so they would rearrange and refund me. This was two weeks ago and I am still STILL waiting for my refund.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

If I could give 0 stars I would.

I made a booking and was asked for some additional information. I called back within 30 minutes but couldn't get through to their "24 hour support line", it just rang through. I tried 3 times and sent two emails, but heard nothing until 2 days later when I was informed my booking was cancelled and there were now no more vans available.

I then hired a van from a different location. The van wouldn't unlock but again, the "24 hour line" was apparently sitting in an empty room. We finally figured it out ourselves.

The money for the hire was taken out of my account along with two additional payments, with no invoice or any clue what the extra charges are for. I have been trying for 4 days to get through but no answer on phone or email. I will be taking further action to get my extra money back and try to get this unlawful company shut down.

Avoid these people at ALL costs.
I hired a van for a day as they were almost half the price of Zipvan. There is a reason for that. The van had 126,000 miles on the clock and was a wreck. In terms of noting existing damage, it would have been easier to note the areas that WEREN"T covered with dents, scratches, rust etc.
It was an embarrassment to drive.No AC either. Text service to unlock doesn't work and keysafe hard to access.
The van was flithy, cab and rear. I'm surprised it is actual legal to rent vehicles in this appalling condition.
You have been warned.

Absolutely appalling company. Terrible unlocking system. Damaged beaten up vans . The van i had the side door didnt work supplied with worn out tyres. One tyre exploded within 3 miles of driving. Very difficult to call for help or talk to anyone. When I did there was no one of authority to talk to. They refused to help in any way unless I paid hundreds of pounds. Leaving me stranded for hours. Awful customer service. Money grabbing, unhelpful, irresponsible. Will be taking them to trading standards. Do not use. They aren't even great value. Better companies out there.

I hired a van, picked it up, it was a 6 year old beat up transit van with 100s of dents and scrapes. I returned the van in the exact same condition after just moving my furniture 1 mile down the road. 8 DAYS later (potentially 100s of hires) I got an email to say there had been damage to the passenger door (didn't even use it) and 拢750 taken from my card. I've git the fraud team to return the money and I`m going to take them to court if they pursue any further.

Needed to hire a van last minute, the price at Icanhire was far more reasonable than any other company. The automated service was easy to use and the van easy to drive. Customer service was always on hand if I had questions or when I needed to extend my hire. Will be hiring again in a couple of weeks!

They couldn't supply the van we booked as it hadn't been returned so offered us an upgrade (which was 10 miles further away) we were also told we would one be charged a single day to compensate us for the lost 6 hours of the first day. I have now been billed for 2 days at nearly double the price of my original quote.

On top of all of this the level of customer service was diabolical. My brother spent 50 minutes on the phone trying to reach customer service on the Monday morning with no answer.
It took me calling for a further 20 minutes to get a response from the team which has phoned me 30 minutes previously (which doesn't not add up).
We also called the customer service line Tuesday afternoon over a period of 3 hours and no one answered. What kind of company doesn't answer their customer support number??

I've been a very loyal customer of icanhire for a number of years now and the service has been very good, even when things go wrong.
Unfortunately the level of support and service we received this time is beyond unacceptable.

It's a real shame as they were the best bang for buck hire company around with great flexibility.

Now I've just been left with a sour taste and won't be using them ever again.

We rented a van last week for 24hours. It was a knackered old vehicle that looked and sounded like it was on its last legs. The van broke down 4 hours before we were due to return it. The engine just packed up and we were left stranded in the middle of a dual carriage way. The support processes from icanhire were not acceptable. The police had to town us to safety. The vehicle was not recovered by icanhire until 5 hours later. This impacted our house move and ability to rent out our flat as planned. Not only did icanhire fail to apologise… they charged us extra for returning the van late! Absolute shambolic experience.

Great ideea, especially for weekends when others want their vehicles back by 10-11 o'clock… only thing is the cars are getting abused without anyone to check them when returned, leaving the next client potentially picking up the bill… always make lots of photos prior to start using the car and email them to the email provided in terms and conditions. Mechanically the vehicle wasn't great… 12v socket not working(I've replaced fuse)…demisting air flow not working on driver's side(nightmare if used early mornings)…fuel consumption pretty high for plain motorway miles with just 120kg load and 2 passengers (10L/100km—aprox 25/28 miles per gallon?)…loads of dents and scrapes to bodywork…chips to windscreen… As far as nobody tries to blame me for any of these ,i can live with it for 24 hours …:))

Was a little bit of a pain setting up the account but that was down to having a named driver instead of me driving but the lady on the phone was really helpful so easy to pick up and drop off only suggestion I would have is when they ask you to top up diesel they could let you know how much you should put in as I ended up leaving it with a lot more than I used perhaps a refund for things like that would be an idea other than that I would definitely use them again reasonable prices for rental and great service

The van was parked not far from home and I was able to park my car easily and it felt safe. The automated system was very easy to use and the online booking was easy. I would use again without hesitation

I belong to two car clubs but when I went to book a longer wheelbase vehicle they only had your standard transit sizes. Larger van hire companies had the stock but if you read their t's n c's you have an excess liability of 拢1500! Not saying I was going to drive badly but if some damage was done either way, I would be the sucker paying for it! I hired the sized van I wanted in the location I wanted for 3 days and had the option to damage waiver for next to nothing. Easy to collect and drop off as your can do as and when you are ready and not the rental office. I booked my van for 16:00 but after over running with packing etc I picked it up at midnight ! Now you can't do that with rental offices. So long as you book a bit of time either side of your requirements then your stress free?

I can't normally be bothered to write reviews but I was really impressed with this company's service. I really liked the ease of booking with icanhire, and I found the staff really helpful and supportive (couldn't figure out how to make tailgate work and they were very patient with me till I got it). I also really like their flexibility toward extending the booking a couple of hours. The van was not spotless but ok, otherwise everything worked fine, and the price was much better than other companies I checked. I was very happy and definitely recommend.
